I've been running my XYZ 53 in a 1/3 size Eindecker this summer and it's running great....with the stock ignition.

I finished installing the ailerons and flaps today. I made a big goof. The covering on one aileron had some small wrinkles at the tip. I hit it with a heat gun and now I have lots of big wrinkles all over the aileron
I tried using a covering iron to get them out, but no luck. Is it possible to shrink this stuff?

Well I didn't lame that mistake but I made others. The covering is terrible and not exactly easy to work with. That's why I have lots of airbrushed "aging" on my plane ha ha

Unfortunately, that is the down side of using a heat gun. You may have overheated the covering beyond the optimum. Once that happens the covering starts to sag. No amount of extra heat will cure the problem.

Do yourself a favor and ditch the stock ignition module. The fail rate is dramatically high. Mine worked for three sparking cycles and then quit. It's the only weak link. Other than that, my 53 has been a great engine.
