I use mainly Hobbico Life batteries and I have some from Cheetah due to their form factors. Electrodynamics has a charge cord that allows balance charging the Life batteries into a Ernst (servo style) end and they will custom make the harness end that goes in your plane.

The harness end just plugs into the Hobbico balance tap end of the battery and gets hidden somewhere on the fuse. Once done it's a simple Ernst (servo style) connector that you can plug in and charge at the field just like the NiMh of old.

I set my port on the fuse so that the ground wire is closest to the ground if vertical or closest to the tail if it's aligned front to back in the fuse. That way I align the ground wire as either the most rearward or the most downward wire as I'm pluging in the Ernst plug and I always know which way to plug it in. Another way to think of it is Positive forward or Positive up.....

The charger cord is a stock item. The Harness for the fuse you need to call Electrodynamics directly and it comes about 2 days later.

hi guys

my 80" LA-7 nearing completion after about a month's work. I've heard of the weld joint on the Elev control linkage coming loose on the 30cc esm kits. Just wandering if anybody had any issues with the Elev control link on the 80" kits?

A lot of ways to skin a cat right?,, LOL, I guesg they make an adapter cable for everything now,

I forgot to mention, I use the Cellpro Multi4 charger, so I don't need the power leads connected,, it does all the charging through the balance tab. Also if you plug it in backwards,,the charger just doesn't start automatically up like it does when you plug it in right,, so no need really to remember orientation.

Another small issue I've had with the Ernst charge receptacle is the plug coming loose when you push the charge lead in, if you look back at my photo you'll see a short extension between the battery and the receptacle,, I glue that in so it doesn't fall out into the fuse, I had that happen a few times,, very frustrating

Do you think a Saito fg60r3 (2,1 kg / 4,7 lbs) will be too heavy for the LA7?? I sure like the sound of those radial, and I believe that fg33r3 might be underpowered..

I have read this whole thread now, and watched tons of videos. Do you think theese nasty ground-looping and landing habits will worsen with this engine?

How is the slow flying ability for the LA-7 really? Are you only flying max speed all the time, as I see in all the videos, or do you also dare to make slow passes with flaps?

funny guy..yes ofcourse I fly them slow too but you missed the part "maiden not done yet" so I have no idea how she flies other than what i've found on youtube - it will be be fine

It flys great....fast or slow. Just be careful not to land too slowly or takeoff before flying speed is achieved. Land on the main wheels and then slow down. On takeoff make sure the tail wheel is off the ground before you try to takeoff.

Hey Guys,

Looks like 2 of the La-5/7's from this thread may be flying together soon ! A good friend told me at the field last night he might be buying Scales LA-7?? He described the plane and I think that's the one he's looking at buying. No matter what, I think I'll have a La-7 to fly with this year. I had an intense family health winter and lost months of modeling due to having to be a caregiver. Things are good now and I plan to get the La-5 out by the end of next week. Hopefully John can get his flight ready quickly so we can fly together. He flys full scale Hawker Jets for a living and is a great RC wingman.

I have Nitro, Methanol, and oil to mix my own fuel for the Laser 300v and will be running it on a 10% and 10% just like the Large Super Tigers.

I have a BH Storch that I'm finishing up with a Laser 300v that is set up for sailplane tug duty. That was supposed to be my fall build last year. Quick and simple. Alas, life changed those plans. The Storch is almost done and then the La-5 will fly again !!

Here's a shot of the crew installed in the Storch. I found a retired HE-111 pilot and his Sgt who owned Germany's largest toy manufacturer before the war. They fit the project perfectly but I have my doubts about them actually spotting anything !!!

I'am using in my ESM LA 7 retracts from Sierra.
I fly the LA 7 with an DLE55 by weight from 12kg.
The retracts a very soft, and I will change the spring in the struts.
And now I have the Problem , who knows where I can opening the Sierra struts ?

I placed pilot into cockpit. He looks a little bigger that he should be, but problem is the cockpit. Pilotīs seat should be lower.

What the heck? All are Rustoleum but the clear isn't compatible with the camo? I'd piss a fit to Rustoleum. Unless it specifically says on the label to not mix them, I'd P and moan to Rustoleum!
