Now I've got it, the Lockheed U-2;U-2R/TR-1 Kelley Johnson started with the fuselage of the F-104. Its replacement was the SR-71, The other country was Tiawan or Nationalist China
1. The fuselage of this aircraft was based on a previous design that had a completely different role.
2. Starting operations in the 50's it outlasted its replacement and is still in limited use today.
3. Two countries have operated this aircraft, only one does now.
4. Most recently it was operational enforcing the no-fly zone in Libya
5. It played a pivotal role in (at least) two extremely charged political situations. The two most prominent being: Francis Gary Powers was shot down over the USSR flying a U-2 and U-2 flyovers of Cuba identified ballistic missile sites prompting the Cuban Missile Crisis.

it had a belly pod that caused some speculation it was removed for display and latter removed from production

ok i had posted some more clues but this computer and rcu do not always get along
this all metal twin engined aircraft was made for rough feilds
the crew of two sat in tandem
it had a belly pod that caused some speculation it was removed for display and latter removed from production
