Okay, sorry for the 16 minute delay. Would post a pic of what held me up, but "red" pictures might offend some. Badly decayed tooth extraction. Search "Mountain Dew Mouth" and you'll see what some people do to their teeth.
What military aircraft shot down the most Japanese aircraft?

I was thinking of a two work answer; Daylight Bombing.
This not only destroyed manufacturing facilities on the ground all the way down to ball bearings, but forced the fighters up to get shot down by our fighters.

what aircraft in its first operational use was so new that the pilots had no training in flight characteristics or tactics, and the ground crew no training in servicing or re-arming. The only training received enabled the pilots to take-off and land, none of the pilots had fired the armament, let alone learned tactics.
However once comitted this airplane proved to be the most effective of its kind during the war.

On the way to raid Y-29 german AA guners saw the large formations. Not being used to seeing that many german planes they thought they were ours and started shoting them down. They lost between 25 -50% of there aircarft. (I can't remember exact number).

How about the Martin B-26. I know they had operational problems early beacuse of training and design concerns. My dad was stationed at MacDill Field in Tampa during the war and told me stories about their troubles. I remember him telling me the saying they had "One a day in Tampa Bay".
