I have a question that I think I found the answer to but there could be others:
What WWII Group / Squadron Flew airplanes with Red & White candy striped tails and a diving Black Falcon aw a insignia.
And where and when did they fly these planes and what planes were they. I guess that is a 3 part question.
Unless some one wants to try a question.

1.) What WWII Group / Squadron Flew airplanes with Red & White candy striped tails and a diving Black Falcon as an insignia. <--- Does not match
2.) And where and when did they fly these planes
3.) what planes were they.
4.) The red and white candy strips were horizontal not Diagonal
I guess that is a 3 part question.

Maybe not what you're looking for, but the B-24's of the 20th Combat Mapping Squadron, in 1942, in the Pacific, had horizontally striped tails with a diving bird emblem. Thanks; Ernie P.

All;
We have apparently lost HoundDog, as he has not posted for more than three days and has not responded to requests. Both Redback and Metaldriver have submitted guesses; but we can only speculate as to which, if either, is correct. Therefore, I will leave it to them to decide who should take the lead.
Redback and Metaldriver; you may discuss matters by PM, but one of you please post a question ASAP. Thanks; Ernie P.

Ernie according to the way the question is/was worded the clues point to the 86th fighter group. I will come up with a question before the day is out. If all parties involved are ok with it.

No Ernie still here.
Lets go with name the plane.
Clue number 1) It was developed by a major player in WW2
2) However it was used to a greater extent by an Allie

May as well finish up with the rest of the low hanging fruit. How about the A-36 Apache and the Heinkel He-112? Both used by allies, but not so much with the country of origin. Thanks; Ernie P.

Wrong on all 3 so far.
1) It was developed by a major player in WW2
2) However used to greater extent by an Allie
3) Was not a fighter or based on a fighter design
4) Manufacturer was reasonably well know in home country
5) Clue to home country - Apple pie

Since metaldriver declared your answer to be correct, you are, in fact, up to ask the next question. Congratulations! Please proceed. Your first clue(s) is due within 24 hours, and a new clue at least each 24 hours thereafter. Thanks; Ernie P.
