also worked on a hinge for the upper cowl. I think with alittle paint it will do nicely. The good thing is that it weights nothing, as its just an .049 micro pushrod with the casing cut up into 1/4" pieces. As I'll be able to surface mount this it was the better option than using a hinge from nelsons that would only be for looks(13 inches of it)and cutting fuse.

I got my inspiration for this from David and Jose's builds.

Added abit of aluminum tape to the "hinge"...I still need to deepen up the grooves abit on it, but not bad after burnishing once. Also finished up forming(ruffly) a panel for just in front of the cockpit area out of some thin stock aluminum. I just need to cut in the hatch latches for both sides, install the latch, and glue.

Ya, I've just poked some ruff in holes for the MG and I have not had the chance to get back to finishing off carving out the rest. I used .256 aluminum in frount of the canopy. You know those little sheets that say "Create with metal" lol. I see them at most hobby and craft stores. It seemed to form abit better than the thinner stuff and just looked right. (very technical lol) Now you can see why another pair of latches are needed I'm glad you liked it. The 4" wide strips fit the piece you need perfect. Just mark and trim the one long side after working it into place.

After using my hobby knife to deepen the grooves in my "hinge", it turned out pretty nice I think. Glued in to place after careful application of Goop to the cowl center line.
Cut in for the latch in the alu panel, just waiting on another latch set to arrive before I set it all.
Also got the port side foot hold epoxied into place. This is the one that will activate my canopy latch so I wanted to do this one first.
Finally I finished shaping another piece of alu for my rear hatch access. I just now need to work on the hinging and putting in some rare earth magnets to hold in place. (the piece of hardwood is there so I can hold it and check all the sides at once.)
progress...

So I hung the exhaust on one side tonight for the first time, I think I need to move it forward about 1/2", too late tonight, I'll check it tomorrow. I also got the handhold epoxied, one side done....(handholds and footholds that is)
I could not resist playing abit sorry.

just was looking at your build thread, very nice ,looks like you'll have a really detailed bird.Thought I'd mention a really great source for detail info if you're wanting some extra stuff to finish that cockpit. Check out http://www.cockpitinstrumente.de/index-englisch.htm If you click on archives on the homepage and then click on various documents then click on the letter M then scroll down to the Messerschmitt factory clickon it and there are about 18 or19 documents on the Me109. Also check out the instument panel section and the catalog of various instruments and equipment. Keep up the great work on this bird it really looks like anoutstanding piece of work.

Thank you for the kind words Tunakuts, I hope to see light at the end of the tunnel as far as the fuse goes very soon and get on to the rivets.
I repositioned the exhaust earlier installed in the correct position, and installed the other side.
I also put the firewall back in the fuse and attached the motor.
I could'nt resist

Applied some foil tape to the non functional hatches and tail stiffeners, I still have more areas to do yet, but its a start.
Worked on getting the holes right for the MG too. I'm gonna try to get the alu foil tape in the muzzle chute's, but so far its a total pain lol.
