Actually, there is no such thing as "USAF WWII pilots".
World War 2 Air Force pilots and crew were in the United States Army Air Forces, and there for were USAAF pilots. It wasn't until 1947 that the Air Force became a seperate, independent branch of service, and dropped the "Army" in it's name.

Of course there were navy and marine pilots as well. They predominantly fought the Japanese

No offense but there were a Lot of army pilots and planes in the Pacific during WWII. I am not sure it is accurate to credit the Navy and Marines as the predominate combatants in that area.

I didn't read it that way. To me, he was just saying that the Navy and Marine pilots were mostly in that theater, and not that others weren't involved. A little touchy, aren't we.

Touchy??????????. You have a different interpretation of a sentence than I do and that makes me touchy? [8|

But I digress, seeing as how you really know nothing about me, let me be clear, this is touchy and sarcastic to boot:
Thanks for the public reprimand and criticism of my reading comprehension skills. I will endeavor to be a better person in the future

I think you suffer from 'read rage'. I just made the term up for you.

No offense was intended. I apologize if one was taken. I hope you can calm down a little and just enjoy RCU as I do.

Ummm.....OK. I really just wanted to point out Navy/Marine pilots. I have no experience with the numbers of army pilots in the Pacific. I am sure they were there as well.

Back on topic, here is a good color chart for your pilot. Lots of painting tips here as well.
