Dave&guys, we sure need wheels for the trojans. something with a bit a scale would be nice
Depends on the size you are looking for, they may be available already.

The cockpit pictures and install vids are on post #21 if the thread. You should e-mail Tomas. I know that answering PM's can be challenging. Its easier to answer the emails.

No, those are aluminum, brake caliper detail would be done in plastic (I couldn't find pics of it though).

Hey Dennis,

Your workmanship as always is excellent. Do you have a nose wheel developed as well?
When I recieve my plane and gear next week I,ll let you know what size is appropriate.
If the wheels you have already developed are for the existing Platt T-28 models I believe that they should look good since the scale is similar.
I said earlier that I wasn,t going to go full tilt boogie on this bird but I guess that shouldn't stop me from putting some nice shoes on it. eh!

thx
Dave

Dave&guys, what do you think about 4" mains and 3.5 nose wheel? would that be close scale for our t-28's? also we need to consider the stand of wheels. will the plane have the proper model incidence to get a shorter roll-out based on the ESM design ? don

Do you have a nose wheel developed as well
That photo is an example of each, nose on the left, main on the right. That particular set was 5 1/2" & 5" but we can do them in the 4 / 3 1/2" size. There are different variants of T-28 wheels, and that set is the most requested.

The question of if they are plastic is a decision we make depending on the level of detail and volume of production. Those were machined because T-28's are few and far between, but on higher volume stuff (say ME-109's) we opt for the plastic detail that allows nut, bolt, stud, and other intricate details that cannot be machined.

Ok sounds good.
The Glennis wheels are of extremely good quality and will be an excellent addition to the models along with the Sierra retracts.
Hey Dennis were those wheels developed for the 1/5th scale Byron T-28?

They probably were - that is the only large one that I'm aware of. Sometimes they just specify sizes, and not what kit/plans they are for.

To those using glow (2C - 4C) as shown in the manual:

How do you plan to handle the fuel tank position?

As shown in the manual the neck of the tank sits over a foot behind the carb location.

Do you plan on using a pump with the glo engines or changing the tank location?

For gas engines this won't be a problem because the carbs are pumped.

Does anyone have an educated guess as to why the nose gear was designed that way - there has to be a good reason - right?

Welcome to RCU pimodel.
I think that an FG 36 with an 18x10 prop would work well in this model.
Dave Platt's T-28 was the same size model and weighed in between 18-22lbs, the engine of choice on it a few years ago was a Moki 1.80.
So your FG 36 being greater than or at the very least equal to the Moki should perform well in this plane.
You have to remember that it is a scale plane and doesn't need the power to weight that an aerobatic model does.

Keep the good work on the thread guys.

Tomas sent me one of these as well with the stock ESM retract gear. I have an old Quadra 50 on CH ignition that will fit this plane perfect. According to the manual, the distance from the firewall to the thrust washer is 6 3/8" / 160mm. My Q-50 is exact, where my Zenoah G-38 is 6 3/4" which would also work.
