I am interested in what engines everyone is using (or intends to use), I know there are some posts on this but I'm sure it would be helpfull for many of us to decide what to go for.
If anyone is interested in helping on this, simply post one of the following three options, i will pull together the results and post in a week or two.
1. I have fitted a XXXXX engine, it fits and it has flown the plane successfully
2. I intend fitting a XXXXX engine as I know or beleive it will fit and fly the plane
3. I intend fitting a XXXXX engine but am not sure if it will fit the plane or has enough power
4. I am not sure yet on what to fit

While the cockpit looks nice. I'm just not sold on it especially for the price. I'll be holding out for a more in depth cockpit. A scale one in uber detail.

Serious? Thats not right! I specifically asked how much they were going to sell them to ALL of us and they said $110 at the show. Iasked how muchthey were going to cost if we didn't buy them at the show and he said that he would still do the $110. Who did you speak to at the Toledo Show?
ORIGINAL: RAMFlyer
WOW; Glad I didn't buy them while I was at the Sierra booth. They quoted me $135.00 for the three wheel set!

I saw the Sierra wheels as well and was quoted $110 by Darrell. Awesome workmanship as always!
I,m going to contact Glennis about some wheels now that I,ve got both the plane and the retracts.
It all depends on which version of the T-28 you want to model as the wheels can vary greatly in how they look.
The version Darrell has aren't the type I need.

RE: ESM T-28
Sorry, didn't get his name. He kept checking a notebook they had laying on the table at the end of the display. Finally he went to the short guy in glasses who gave him a price that he passed on to me. The other guy then picked up the three wheel set to show me. I commented that the nosewheel and main wheel hubs didn't match each other, as they do on many of the T-28 pictures I have seen. Got no response to that. I have no explanation as to why the prices we got are different. I hit the display relatively early on Friday so maybe they didn't have a firm price yet. I was very surprised that they already had a wheel set together. I went by the booth mainly to fondle and drool over the retracts...
EDITED TO ADD:
Went through my Toledo stuff and found the business card of the gentleman that gave me the quote. Tim Mayher, Sales for Sierra.
Please understand; I am not dissing Sierra. I merely commented that I was given a different price for the T-28 wheel set than someone else got. I also will try to find wheels elsewhere as these don't match what I want. See the attached pictures.

You really have to be on the ball and know what you are talking about if you are really going to do actual scale stuff.

My own observations are that the distance from the bulkhead to the prop driver needs to be @ 160 to 170mm, this is short and will rule out quite a few engines. In addition, the diameter of the cowl (although quite big) will probably result in the engine or spark plug sticking out underneath, not very scale !.
I am now looking at the Evolution 34cc and 40cc gassers and even two stroke glow engines to get the engine within the cowl as much as possible.
I am really interested to hear from any one that has actually flown the plane, in fact this interests me more than what wheels or other scale details are discussed, can anybody give some info on flying the plane ???
Hope they get the planes in soon, i am really looking forward to getting mine.

RE: ESM T-28
I believe its to new to get any real world info on engines or flying this plane.
IMO if I were to be purchasing an engine for this plane I would be getting the Brison 2.4.
Its 5" in length and mufflers for it are easy to find in many different configurations http://www.brisonrcengines.com/bri1.htm

RE: ESM T-28
Hey Don,
The Brison 2.4's swing a 20x10 prop at 7000rpms so a 3 blade 19x10 would be a good starting point.
Having looked at my T-28 cowl a 19" prop would be the minimum size I would go with, since the cowl is not small by any means.
Any word on the Sierra retracts from Tomas yet?

RE: ESM T-28
Yeah I,ve had very good service provided by Tomas @ VQ Warbirds, Darrell @ Sierra, Tony @ Pacific Scale and Leo @ Spychalla aircraft for a number of scale warbird items I,ve purchased over the last couple of months.
They are all regular posters here on the RCU warbird forum and have been great to deal with.

RE: ESM T-28
Is anyone far enough along in the build to tell me how their plane balanced? Does it tend toward tail heavy or nose heavy? I'm going electric and trying to decide where to build the battery tray. Thanks!

RE: ESM T-28
Anyone else (like me) placed a deposit on the plane based on a delivery of late April now being told June to July delivery ?.
If delivery is likely to be as far away as July, I dont think I can wait that long for my next project to start.
I also note that although the question on how this thing flys has been asked a few times, no one has responded, so, again, if anyone can give a detailed flight report, it would be appreciated.

RE: ESM T-28
Hi guys,
I don,t think that there are a lot of planes out there at this point. I heard that there were between 25 & 50 of them in the first shipment.
I know I,ve got one along with the Sierra gear and am just waiting for my Brillelli 42 to come back from being refreshed before I start.
They are nice planes but I'd bet its to early to get any real world flying info on them just yet.
If you want some pics oddiffrent things let me know and I'll take some. Keep in mind there may be a slight delay getting them posted since I'll be travelling in the US for a week starting tomorrow.
