J2M3 Raiden in 1:5 scale
I'm working with a designer to come up with plans for a 1:5 scale J2M3 Raiden. Here are a few pictures to whet the appetite. The plan is to produce plans, a fiberglass cowl and a plug for the canopy. Lenny from Shindin Machine is working with us on the pneumatic retracts.
see my thread at RCScaleBuilder in the scratch build section.

RE: J2M3 Raiden in 1:5 scale
I'm sure we can eliminate at least half of the formers aft of the CG and half of the wing ribs, but during the design process I think it's easier to get the right shape using more formers. Not sure if I want to make a plug for the fuse. Built-up may take longer but the weight penalty for a fiberglass fuse is not worth it to me.

Thanks Dave.
We have someone cutting parts for fit as they are designed and it looks awesome. I can't wait to have the parts in my shop and start building this baby.

Pippin,
I wish I knew. I'm hoping the initial design work with be done in the next month or so. We have someone cutting out parts and assembling them as its designed to check parts fit and all is going well at this point. I'll try to keep this thread updated as more progress is made. I'm getting more excited as we get further along. I have had him place the aileron servo in the center of the airfoil since the full scale plane had it in that point.

I am still working on my Ki-27 but the Raiden would get priority. How about engine choices?
