RE: ESM Typhoon CG Question
Oh my ... sorry to hear about the crash. What a shame. Did this happen on the first flight? I am using the same engine except not the gas version. Saito 2.20. Even at that, I am having to add a couple pounds of lead to the nose. Did you need to add considerable weight in the nose to balance it at 100 mm? Do you know the final weight balanced and dry? Mine is almost 17 lbs. and I haven't even added the lead to the nose yet. Looks like flying weight is going to be almost 20 lbs. Very heavy for a 73 in. wing.

RE: ESM Typhoon CG Question
OUCH, sorry for you with the radio blacking out, not nice, but, i still use crystals in far more expensive ships, with no problem, 2.4 can have its problems too,
as for the weight thing, its a trait of the aircraft type, the full size engine weighed in at over 1ton!!!!!!!!!!!! just get everything as far forward as possible, get a brass nut machined up to fit your crank thread, the prop wont even know its there, i made one that weighed quite heavy for a UK guy, he managed to remove 1lb of ballast from further back, plane has a very forgiving wing, just learn how to use the flaps, and it will be a *****cat,
friend of mine once, boutgh an all balsa one, from a denny bryant plan, it weighed nothing, but when he got the gear, and engine in, it needed near 2lb up front!!! thing flew like a dream,

RE: ESM Typhoon CG Question
So then ... I take it a 19-20 lb flying weight to be considered within normal limits? Hope so because I might do the maiden this Monday. Hoping for the best.
