Has anyone had any issues with the pull pull cables on the retractable tailwheel? Mine want to bind with the rudder cables when the tailwheel is retracted.

Not sure how you have yours set up, but I have heard about this and one solution which I adapted as well, the instructions call for using a nut on the Rudder and Tail wheel cables at the attachment point on the servo arm, which you tighten down once you have the cables adjusted; instead of using a nut on all 4, just use a nut on one set, not sure which one, rudder or tail wheel?, I would have to look at mine but it seems to me that I only used nuts on the outer most cables; the binding occurs when the nuts hook up on each other; another thing I did was attach springs on the tail wheel to keep the wheel centered in the well when retracted as pictured; the other picture is someone else's that was posted earlier in this thread, but it shows only one nut being used per servo arm side of cable attachment points, in this case, which makes sense, one on the Rudder and the other on the tail wheel.

Lamcevak my cables did the same thing when they were retracted but I put some shrink tube on the tail wheel cables at the servo arm and that fix it. The shrink tube keeps the wire straight when the gear is retracted I will get a pic for you

Thanks guys. Mine is set up the same way, I had removed the lock nuts from the tailwheel clevises and run some wicking loctite in them. I do like the heat shrink idea though. I was wanting to make sure I wasn't the only one having this problem, to make sure I didn't do something wrong.
Thanks again!

This is what I did with my setup I just cut up a straw I had and placed it over the lock nuts.

I am using a DA 60 in mine. I called DA and asked them what they would be best for that plane/engine combo and the 22/12/3 is what they suggested. Of course I was wanting a three blade prop anyway.

Thats great...you will love the DA60 its going to make that plane zing You may as well buy the Mejzlik 22x12N 3 blade cause you can put all the scale stuff on it and it will be a quality prop balanced and ready to go and you can get it from DA. Call Dave Brown and you can order the spinner that will match, just tell them what engine bolt arrangement and three blade cut all ready to go for like $80. Its the standard spinner that you want....I going with this same set up after the the engine is broke in

If you order the Jtec muffler for this engine/plane combo, order it direct and not thru Tower. Mine had short stacks on it and I had to add some length to them...Jtec will put the correct stacks on it before it goes out the door 7320 rpm on a 22x10 2 blade on the first tank of fuel

Jtec is only 10 miles from the house... I am going to pick up my muffler tomorrow! Already ordered the DB spinner, and ordering the prop today.
Next is a pilot... I don't want to break the bank, but I would like something nice. Any suggestions?

This is the guy that I found for my P-40. Found him on eBay for a great price. Since this is a "retired" figure, it is a little pricey but if you look around you may find one that is affordable.

Check out Just the Pits or Yellow Aircraft. Nice pilots at a very reasonable price.

Dragon periodically re-releases their pilots, but you really have to keep an eye out because they go quick. You can also check for the items used on that particular pilot and put one together even cheaper than the boxed pilot alot of times. I did see the flying tigers jacket offered last time I checked...just another option anyways. I was able to put together a Russian pilot from dragon for under 40 bucks.

Also, keep in mind that there are quite alot of different distributors out ther that carry dragon items, so by doing a broader search may turn one up as well.

Looking forward to seeing yours fly nate! Someday I'll have to replace my TF P-40 with the giant scale offering, but for now, I have too many projects as it is lol.
