I took a tip from Sam Parrifit on here and used spray foam and put into my belly pan to stiffen up.
He also did his wheel wells and carved out for his landing gear, I probably wont do that.
I have to tell you it really stiffend up the belly pan with little weight.
I can now pick the whole plane up with one hand on the BELLY and prop and no worries of denting in the pan.
I drilled three holes in the pan (two in front and one in rear) for the foam to expand out.
IT DOES GET MESSY, but worth it.
To get the dried (8 hours later) foam off I used a sharp chisel.

One of my Pull-Pull cables broke on my Rudder from the exit tube on the plane.
Anyone else have this happen.
Fortunately it was not flying!
I am thinking of putting in a push rod just like the elevators for rudder........any thoughts.
Leaving Pull-Pull on the tail wheel of course.

What about the main line that goes to the air tank. Do you zip tie that one?

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale
I used the foam in a can, Sam I think said LOW expansion.
Not sure what I bought, but it worked fine.
Bought at Home Depot, $10 a can or so.
Drill holes to spray in and holes for it to expand out.
Let dry and use a wood chisel to scrape of.
Wear gloves as it does get messy.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale
I drilled two 3/16" holes in the front of the belly and and a 1/4" in the rear of the pan.
Started squirting the foam in from both ends until is started coming out of the holes and basicly stopped.
The more you squirt in the possiblity of the more you clean up.
Squirt in and let sit for 8 hours (on the floor with paper underneath) or untill hard, scrape excess off with wood chisel.
I will probably do nothing to the holes I drilled as you can not see them that much and they are hard as a rock.
You could paint some grey over the holes.
I am at work and can not get pictures.
It REALLY does beef up the belly pan and glad I did it.
Another reminder, it is MESSY, but worth it.
I used 30 min epxy when installing my pan and had no problems of foam wanting to rip it off.
In fact I already had a dent in my pan from handling, it pushed it out some.

Scheme looks great... but that's no N version
P-40N (manufactured 1943–44), the final production model. The P-40N featured a stretched rear fuselage to counter the torque of the larger, late-war Allison engine, and the rear deck of the cockpit behind the pilot was cut down at a moderate slant to improve rearward visibility. A great deal of work was also done to try and eliminate excess weight to improve the Warhawk's climb rate. Early N production blocks dropped a .50 in (12.7 mm) gun from each wing, bringing the total back to four; later production blocks reintroduced it after complaints from units in the field. Supplied to Commonwealth air forces as the Kittyhawk Mk IV. A total of 553 P-40Ns were acquired by the Royal Australian Air Force, making it the variant most commonly used by the RAAF. Subvariants of the P-40N ranged widely in specialization from stripped down four-gun "hot rods" which could reach the highest top speeds of any production variant of the P-40 (up to 380 mph), to overweight types with all the extras intended for fighter-bombing or even training missionsHello! Here's my reference
Here's my reference
Paint is correct for sure, but it's not the detail that defines the version.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale
Da Rock, You are correct in that the "majority" of P40N's did have a longer tail and a slanted rear cockpit aft of the pilot, however the early version of the "P-40N 1" did not. It looked much like a M version. This is what Samuel Hammer of the 80th Fighter group" Burma Banshees" flew...You're right the devil is in the details
Thanks
The plane is from a Bates kit. I'm not the builder but proud owner. This plane was a build thread on RCSCALEbuilder.com
