Default RE: Black Horse Models Ju-87 Stuka

Three flights on the weekend after adding 100gm to the nose. Still a bit twitchy and reactive on the first flight and I added some expo (50%) and reduced the travel (15%) on both the elevator and the aerollins. I also reduced the flaps to about 10 degrees. Perfectly behaved on the second flight - much slower and sedate and felt 100% in control. An absolutely perfect landing with the flaps down and barely any control inputs needed until a foot above the ground. My next flight was good, but I stuffed up the landing. It slowed down well, but I could see that I might run out of runway. I hesitated for a few seconds in trying to decide whether to keep landing, and risk running into the rough, or to go around. Anyway, the plane made up its mind for me and dropped like a stone from 2 feet off the ground. Not too much damage, the right spat broken off again and the oleo mount bent. An easy, but time consuming fix due to the need to disassemble the undercarraige - lesson to myself, use minimal locknut on the various undercarraige screws and bolts.

I want to correct my earlier posts about the propellor size. I'm using a 15 X 8 cherry wood prop on an ASP 120 4 stroke .

Default RE: Black Horse Models Ju-87 Stuka

Hi, here are my thoughts about newly built and maidened BH Stuka.

Model: BH JU-87B Stuka (BH090)

Engine: ASP FS 120 AR

Prop: MAS K-15x8 (8000 rpm)

Servos: 9 x HiTec HS-485HS

TX-RX: Futaba 7C 2.4GHz - Futaba 617FS

Weight: 5.3-5.5 kg

Wind: 20+ km/h

Conclusion: Due to break-in process cowling was off. Built process went pretty straightforward. It's well made ARF model. Earlier production errors are gone. Aileron and flap leveling quite challenging and made by eye, trimmed in the air .

Take off: Nothing special then other warbirds (Right rudder, easy on throttle, a little bit longer run than sport planes).

Flight: Once trimmed, flies like an arrow. Very low stall speed, no bad tendencies like other birds have. Loop is easy. Ailerons are very insensitive !!!!!!. You must adjust them +- 20mm so that you can make tono in a second or so . CG is better 1cm forward then manual suggested.

Landing: First things first flaps are different story. When you deploy them, plane start to nose down dive in half throttle. Be carefull to direction elevator if you're using "flap to elevator" mix !!!!!. Landing is challenging in windy conditions and without flaps almost impossible. Even lots of drag on it, act like a glider w/o flaps. Struts are very robust and efficient

Sum: Not a beginner plane, really has a character, don't like wind, built a little nose heavy is better.

I hope this thread is still going.
I have just got my BH Ju 87 and going through the instructions there is no mention of any side thrust.
Will be fitting a RCV 130 CD as I have one spare swinging a 18X6 prop.

I had a 20cc in mine, but am about to put in a 26cc, and expect much better flight performance. i hope to have her done by the warbird show this weekend, but I won't be holding my breath on it.

Helo where did you get this. I have been trying to find a dealer that has parts for blackhorse kits. l I have their corsair and need a new conopy and could use a fresh cowl. Over hear it seems this company is not being represented by dealers anymore. Do not forget to put a whistle on it for dive bombing runs

I think the germans removed the siren on this version of the full size Stuka :-)

Bought mine here:
http://www.hobbyfly.de/black-horse-j...rf-1920mm.html

But they are in stock lots of places here in Europe.

Thanks for the link. It seems odd that Blackhorse does not have a us distributor over the last couple of years
