not listed on tower yet,Top Flight has a rotating retract listed looks like they may have worked there issues out.

they also include as a upgrade using the Robart rotating gear, looks pretty good, wonder how long till the release.

i also noticed its not listed on tower-robart 615s ought to do the job just fine-I'm wondering if there is a built in hatch for electric like the stang and jug in this size?

Even though I have the new GS P-40 on order I would consider buying this one, BUT, did they have to use the same scheme? Many other options...

CHECK THIS OUT- Tower has a GIANT Scale P-40 listed as 'soon to be available, but not '60 size' version:

Yeah!

Now, [link=http://www.keleo-creations.com/product_info.php?cPath=17_30&products_id=55]Keleo Creations Exhaust[/link] for this model would be awesome!

Oh, who needs their house painted this summer, it seems that I have to buy this model now and the retracts from Sierra.

Interesting that they are making there own gear ? anyone seen pics ?
ALso why suggest the 615 for this size plane , the 615 have not been updated in years and as a fact the many guys on RCU Have made there own mods to keep the scissors from folding in .
I am assuming sierra gear will work with some simple mods or even some mechanicals with eletric mods from down& locked

I have had no problems with the 615's in my Hellcat nor did I have any with them in my TF P-40. However, I only fly off of paved surfaces and neither of my airplanes was much over 10 pounds. Both of those things probably make a difference. Having said that I will add that I had a set of the .60 size Sierras and I can tell you without a doubt that they are light years ahead of the Robart gear. Much more robust and without any slop which cannot be said for the 615's. I designed the Hellcat to work with either set of gear and the Sierras are just a fraction wider than the Robart units. I'm pretty sure they would take very little work to fit in anywhere that the 615's are designed to go.

I wasn't planning on any more warbirds but I may have to change my mind. If it is significantly lighter than the usual kit built TF P-40 (11.5 to 12 lbs) I might want one. Says 9.75 to 10 lbs. But that is probably with a 60 two stroke. Depends on weight with OS 120, on board glow driver and CJ retracts which I already have on hand. I'll just have to wait and see about this.

Chad , did you ever see an old lady park a car when she hits the one behind her on the way in , then the one in front of her to move up and then the curb ?
Well that is my landing style and I need more then the 615 to help me out

Seriously , I like the robart structs , they are rock soild but i fly off of very hard and damaged grass from field hockey(winter months) ect , so the 615 dont stand a chance

I like the larger arf but this is more in my price range. Very nice looking bird that can be kicked up a notch with a little extra work.

Notice if you look through the manual, the model comes WITHOUT retracts - fixed gear only. It says you may upgrade with either 615's or the new Top Flite rotating gear.

Are you kidding? I live in Phoenix, land of the snowbirds. Our population of over 65 drivers (same WAY over) doubles for a few months each winter!

If you can justify the extra cost of the Sierra gear I'm pretty sure you will not be disappointed, they are fantastic. Will be interesting to see what kind of reviews the new Top Flite gear receives.

If you add up the gear and then the struts then the Sierra gear is closer than you think

Of course you are correct Randy, thanks for the reminder. I have been getting the Robart retracts and functional struts at a discounted price through the graciousness of a couple of sponsors of my Hellcat group build. I have been comparing that discounted cost against the regular price of the Sierras which is really not a fair comparison. Under normal circumstances the Robart gear w/struts are only going to be about $50 cheaper than the Sierras. The quality of the Sierra gear is easily worth that much.

Tower now has it listed. $350. $108 for the TF Retracts.

And that's why Chad wants a high-viz color scheme for his Hellcat - he wants the snowbirds at his flying field to SEE that thang !!!

Actually, Chad's just remembering the day I drove up to the VeichWerks in my rental car !!! ((( "...Oh jeeze how did I miss that Bentley in my rear-view? Oops - did I just ding that Ferrari? I swear I did NOT see that Lamborghini next to me... gosh - this rental is so different than my car..." )))

John in Boston,
