Default Where can I get a giant t-28 kit

I am looking for a giant scale t-28 or giant scale corsair complete kit. Don't really want a top flight kit(already have the arf) but don't know who sells either kit with everything to complete the build(wood, plans, instructions) if anyone knows who sells complete kits please let me know.

Check out Iron Bay Models. They sell the old Byron T-28. It's a complete kit. I think it runs about $1200.

You must tell us more about this rumor, if CARF is making it I'm in.

Sent email to IronBay, never heard anything back so forget that.

Not surprised on the Iron Bay. They're really slow with any response. It may be a month before you hear anything. A lot of people have had bad experiences with them, but if you really want an old Byron kit you just have to put up with it. They will eventually respond though, at least that was my experience with them. I was going to buy that kit, but decided to go a different route due to the cost.

This may not be helpful, since these two aren't giant by most folks definition, but worth a look-see, if you're not already familiar with them. Vance Mosher's T-28 is avail. in kit form w/ a ton of accessories available, including a building CD. I have one of these kits waiting in the closet for it's turn. Dave Platt has short kits, but kit cutters can provide all the necessary wood pieces. I've seen both these T-28s at warbird meets and they are very, very impressive. Both are (only) 80 inch span. The one avail. from Bob Holman is much bigger but is from an era when stand way- off scale was the standard . www.vanvan.us/ , www.daveplattmodels.com The T-28 is truly an attention grabber, so I hope you can find one the size you're after. Just curious is the kit a Iron Bay kit or Byron Original kit? How much are you needing to part with it? Thanks Donzie

It looks very good and would you say is the one box is shippable? Would you consider taking it to UPS store or is it just local pickup? Just not anywhere close to you anytime soon. Thanks Donzie

Call my good buddy Dino at http://meister-scale.com/Corsair/corsair.html. He sells a 100" wing span corsair kit. The T=28 has always been a dream plane of mine also but there aren't any kit's out there that can handle a Moki250 radial.

Maybe one day my wishes will come true and somebody will produce one like maybe CARF Models!!

I also know that Bob Patton makes a Fiberglass fuse and i think foam wings for a T-28 that is big enough for a Moki 180.

Hello Flyingchef,
If you haven't sold the Byron T-28 kit, could you PM me your asking price and the details of what options you have in the kit? I'm just down the road a piece in Omaha, NE so I could do a pickup.

Thanks,
langerl

Hi Greg-
Well you CAN put a Moki 150 in the Byron T-28-ask me how I know. TONS of work to modify the front end, but it will go. Having said that though, a nice Moki 250 size bird would be the bomb !

The Byron planes are to old school and not even close to scale looking for me to even think about building these day's. Glad you where able to fit the 150 in it.

Don't know if this has posted yet, but I understand that CARF will be coming out with an all composite giant T-28 soon, sized around the Moki 250 radial.

I mentioned this earlier but when I confronted a CARF rep, he said it was news to him. I even had a pic of the prototype but can't seem to find it now
