TF thunderbolt airfoil
I've heard really good things about the TF thunderbolt's flying qualities. Does anyone know whether the airfoil is an NACA type or a special design? I'd like to try it on a scratch building project.
Thanks,
John

TF thunderbolt airfoil
It uses the Selig S8036 airfoil at the root, and the S8037 at the tip. These airfoils were designed specifically for the TF Thunderbolt, but I think some of the other new TF models are also using them.
You can find the coordinates on our website:

Just to clarify: I don't work for Top-Flite, but I am in Dr. Selig's research group - he designed the airfoils for Top-Flite. To answer your question about the horizontal stab: I do not know for sure which airfoil they used, but I am pretty sure it would not have been the S8036 or S8037, as both of these airfoils have some camber. Instead, they probably used a thinner, symmetrical airfoil such as the NACA0009, S9026 or something similar. Unfortunately I don't know for sure.
