Pretty good Ken, the P-38M is 1:5.47 the Stuart M5A1 is 1:6.10 - the tank is 3.3 inches too short. Most think the tank is way too big . But the Stuart was a small tank

Looks cool to me. I wasnt familiar with that stuart. I've been to the Fredricksburg Nimitz museum several times and paid just a little attention to the stuart they have there, turrent version.
How do you deal with turning the nose gear? I assume its still connected to the linkage.

How and how to will be in my P-38 build thread, Edwin. I'm doing the pictures right now, I don't like the hook on the tractor - there need to be a servo to lift the boom. So get the airplane where it needs to be - lift the boom a little (unhook) - the park the tractor. I use my JR 9303 for that - the tractor has 7 channels, that means I could ..... hehehe more to come.

Ive thought about using a "tractor" as well. There's been a few german halftracks that have been sold on ebay the last couple years that are remote control. One went for $600. But they are 1/6th size scale. great for most of mine I suppose, but buying a brand new one of those half tracks is well over a couple 1000 dollars.
Another option Id thought of was using an old Willys pickup body on an r/c monster truck and painting it military colors.

The half track is a trail and error thing - I have the old speed controllers and motors from the Stuart left over may this fall I go on it. But before that I like to built something like that in full metal...

So Barry, is the tank too large or too small?

I was thinkin too small, but I guess like everyone else, I'm not familiar with the Stuart. Maybe its just right. A halftrack would have to pull a FW-190 or ME-109. Again, very cool factor. You need to think about attending Warbirds Over Delaware (largest warbird event in the country) with that set up, you'd be a big hit, especially if you convert to onboard starters....

There was a 160" B-25 at warbirds over the rockies last year that had onboard starters.

Don't post this in the Jets section.
Within 5 posts it will soon become full size tractors and a 'mine is bigger than yours' pi$$ing contest! - John.

Allen, look at post #8 - I use my JR9303 for controlling the tank - I have a 7ch receiver in there and two 12v boat speed controllers. That makes it possible to drive a curve like the a full scale tank - not skid turn and skid turn.
Same radio as for the airplane - switch model and go fly...
