Video of PT-19 first flights at youtube, as you can see my friend took it up on the second takeoff and was not prepared for it to pull to the left. I would not of expected a plane like this to pull so much to the lefteither.

Thank you for taking the time to document your build. I just p.u one of these kits and I like how you made the tail and wings in sections. Any chance you can go into a little more detail on the removable tail section?

I got the idea of using a wood spar from Meister plans, on a wing like this with diahedral you can not use a wing tube, if you look at the wing the wood spar jointer is stuck into a pocket made into the wing. I use a peice of 7/8" thick spar jointer cut from clear pine, the hight is about 3/4 the wing thickness, the top is flat and the bottom is cut on a angle of the wing diahedral to the pointed end, ( the photo wing is in the rack upside down)..
You need toreplace the wing spar in the kitwithone that is wide enough for the wood jointer to slide into.Like I say I use peice of clear pine from home depot and rip it on a table saw, on the main wing spars I make them the lenght called on the plans, 1/4" thick and 7/8" wide.
The wing pocket is made so the flat top of jointer slides into the wing below the top spar, the tapper side lays on the bottomspar, the ribs need to be cut out for the hight and width at that particular point to correspond to the jointer,,,and between each rib you need to glue a peice of spar material that rests on the top of the jointer to make the pocket,, when the glue sets pull out the spar jointer out ( make sure that you did not get glue on the jointer) Once at this point take 1/8" balsa and add to both sides of the spar like you do with shear webs to enclose the pocket... the jointer is made about 30" long. The removable stab is easy, a peice of 1/8' ply is glued across the fuselage in the rear for the stab assembly to lay on, than I drill couple holes through the stab into the base and glue 8/32" T nuts on the bottom of the 1/8" ply, the stab is screwed into the ply, a 1/4"wood alingment dowl is glued into a hole at he center of the stab and goes into a hole at the front where the spar L.E meets the fuselage..

billd76,,,
I don't quite understand your question about the half moon former, it would have helped if you attached a picture of the area you are asking about.. as for the wing fillet as you can see on the first photo I built the wing saddle pretty much to plan, on the next two photo I glue the thin ply to the bottom of the saddle it is maybe 3/4" wide at the front and about 1-1/4" at the back. on the last photo balsa tri stock is glued to the ply starting from the front to the back than sand the curve shape with sand paper wrapped around a tube, the back you can use triangle gussets and than sheet the fillet, otherwise you would need some very large tri stock to build up the fillet...

Gene
Thanks for the info on the Fillet. Here are some pics of the half moon bulkhead area I'm talking about.

Gene, What glue did you use to simluate the panel line rivots. I'm doing mine in the Chillean Air force colors. Silver, orange and blue. Having trouble finding a good pic of the nose art though. It's some sort of duck.

On mine the half moon portion is attached to the wing, the wing is held in on the front with two pegs and screws in the back area of the wing.. Sorry I don't have a picture of the half moon area of the wing just now to post. .

My wing mounts the same way, Guess I just need to decide to either attach the half moon to the wing or the fuse. Thanks for the replies.
