Look at this. I guess I purchase my BT a week too soon.

Looks like the cowl paint doesn't match...just like the GS Corsair. I think I still like the ESM better.

Do none of you guys know about the Hobbyking 89" composite spitfire they offer? Ive got a set of the retracts for that plane and they're are actually pretty stout and rather scale ......and only $160.

Plane(usa warehouse):

Retracts(global warehouse):

Gun package(european warehouse) need two sets of them one per wing:

tevan55,
One thing I would love to see Top Flite and other ARF maker do is to make one as in the picture and one that let us do the finishing. I know people will buy this and do a re-coving job, ( I for one )!!! I still would like to see more pictures and a video before I write it off. For now I will go with the EMS Spit. Note they did not have a price on it, but I am thinking it will be around the price they have on the FW-190!! If that is the case, than for me, it will be the EMS 72 Spit!!!:D

kahloq,
Do you have the HK retracts? How are they? I was looking at them for my BT Spitfire.

kahloq 01-31-2013 03:46 PM

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)

Yes I do have the HK retracts. They are good in my opinion. I showed them to a 30+ year flyer and he wants to buy them from me and has spurred him to purchase the HK spitfire.

Agree. I think the ESM looks a lot nicer, particularly the cowl area. I really dislike these bolt-over cowls. They could at least set the cowl circumference so it is flush with the fuse. Too bad TF did not use a similar system to what they did on the P-51. And, the ESMprice is right as well, crappy hardward included.

i would venture to guess brite strobe led's or video editing.
I had a look at this turkish company for strobe LEDs awhile back

Hey, nice job on the video! Good flying and I like the smoke. Looks like the DLE55 is a good match for that plane.

I have a 72.5" ESM Spitfire. It shows two canons in the instructions but none came with the kit. Does anyone know where I can get a set or can give me the diminsions to make a couple? I may try mounting LED's in them like the video. A friend says he has seen this done on a F-86 and it really shows up like the video.

Thanks in advance.

Almost bought a H9 Spit but had a feeling that TF would bring an ARF out, glad that I didn't. Now I just need to wait on the 60 sized version!

I received my BT Spitfire kit and its very nice. What gas engine would be good for this? I was thinking DLE 35RA, DLE 55RA or should I go bigger like ZDZ 60? I would like it to fit inside the early Mk cowl without chopping it up. I'm going to have lots of questions on this build should I start my own build thread or post hear?

These cannon plans were sent to me about 4 years ago from a fellow in Norway if I remember correctly. Met him here on RCU. I turned them on a lathe and they worked really well. I used a dowel rod. Good Luck.

Elevators and horizontal stab frame up is finished except for final sanding. I always save that for the very last thing. If i were to finish sand now i would be filling dings before painting. :D Vertical fin is started and ready to sheet one side. I did re-cut the TE of the fin, the kit wood was like a rock. [:'(]

I say post your build here on the thread. This is one of the reasons I started it. Concerning the powerplant choice, what can the cowl handle with the least amount of cutting and what is the weight advertised as.

Thanks.

Early model Spits of MK 1 & II during Battle of Britain used rectangular mirrors. The late model MK IIs are where the round mirrors begin to be used. I got the info off of the SPITFIRESPARES.co.uk web site.

As well as this some time cars in the car park were left mirrorless as some pilots would try anything to get a look behind. One certain CO of a squadron had the top windscreen mirror and one either side down on the lower section. It proved marginal so they were removed.
Just check lots of pictures I say.

Cheers,

Brad
