65% DR-I ARF
At the AMA convention last weekend one of the more stunning items was a HUGE Fokker 65% DR-I. It was built up, covered in ultracote film and cost $3600. Had options including 3 different schemes (this one was all red) and the option to get it uncovered. 192" wingspan, 13.5' long and weighs 120 lbs. engine calls for a 275 to 546cc motor. They were showing a video of the plane in flight and it was magnificent. Not sure of the AMA rules on a plane this size but it was truly impressive, even had the axe handle wing skids. Granted the detail on the plane was very rudimentary but it was one sweet looking arf. I grabbed a flyer but it doesn't have their company name or website on it. I suppose I could look at the attendee roster and figure it out. This company had many giant scale arfs for sale. Looked like FUN, you would need a trailer to transport I'm sure.

You don't need a trailer, just hook the tailskid to your trailer hitch and pull it to the field. Probrably has 16"wheels.

RE: 65% DR-I ARF
It's the Hemple 65% DR1 ARF and if it is 120 lbs. then it falls within the AMA 125 lb. experimental category.

RE: 65% DR-I ARF
I was offered a great deal on a blue and white one that Bill had to offload, but the shipping is a killer. Yes, its AMA legal and would be a big hit at any flyin.

RE: 65% DR-I ARF
And, when they came from the factory, THEY WERE GLOSSY... So glossy covering should be scale.
And they never put "Axe handles" on a DR-1 at the factory. The were bolted on the box spar. The F-1 never had wing tip skids, so axe handles were fashioned to some of them in the field. Slightly different model though. Pretty bad when my half scale fokker is considered small now. Rebel |
