Hey Fokke,

If Roto finishes this project it looks like the 130FSI might be a good fit??

Linky

The drawing shows 133mm center-line to top of the valve cover.

Hi Joe , will fit , but need to change the main engine box in the wood construction with 60mm bck , usual this is not so big problem . See the last picture .

Rumen,
Nice don't forget about us 1/5 scale guys;) I'm think a Dle-55RA would work nicely, maybe a little high on the power side.I would love put a small twin in my Dora maybe a Rotor 50cc,but I dont think it would fit in the cowling without cutting the sides of the cowling.VVRC 40cc or Dle-40cc might work, but again I think it would be under powered. While I always Satio FS engines in glow ,I'm not crazy about there gas offerings . Which brings me too the Saito FG-57Tcc anybody use one? It's a little on the pricey side[$1049.99] ,20:1 mix ratio and non Walbo carb keps me away, but it would sound nice....:) Cheers: Rich

fokke 02-22-2015 01:02 PM

Rich , I can't forget he 1/5 cose after several days I will cut the Dora fuselage ;)

Yes, I will check what gas engines will fit in the nose in 1/5 Dora but don't forget the Anton, there the cowl is biger so I think that for the 1/4 Anton8 150cc Moki :)

kwik 02-22-2015 01:13 PM

The Saito FG 60 will probably be the most perfect engine for the 1/5 Dora.

:):):)

Joespeeder 02-22-2015 02:09 PM

Hey Kwik,

The FG60 looks great. I just got an email from Ray English last night and he is working on my OS 320FF for the SiSt D9. It would be another option for the 1/5 Fokke D9 I bet.

I'm having the drain ports moved to run it with the carb on top to help with tank placement and any performance mods Ray may recommend. He is going to A/B test it against his personal 320FF. As I know more I'll post the results.

Kwik ,
Absolutely on the Anton, not sure on this Dora, but if Horizon Hobby ever gets them in stock I will buy one for my Holmen FW190A at 220mm 8.6" DIA it's perfect fit.

ticketec 02-22-2015 04:03 PM

Don't forget the XYZ 53cc twin for the 1/5 scale options!

Chris Nicastro 02-22-2015 04:59 PM

Since all of those engines are so very slightly larger than the 1/4 scale nose what about increasing the scale to compensate? It would be great not to have any mods or interference between the head, valve cover or plug cap and the cowl.
That Roto three cylinder is going to really cool.

Dowmer 02-22-2015 05:10 PM

Chris, the GT 80 Boxer fits without cutting. It's a good match. Evo built a D13 at 1/4 scale and it fit great.

Ramstein44 02-22-2015 06:26 PM

Evo used a BME111 or 116 with custom exhaust.

Dowmer 02-22-2015 06:46 PM

Ah, my bad. That's right it was the BME and it all fit as I remember.

BME 110 extreme. Fit great with the plugs angled towards the rear. About 1/8" clearance from the plug cap to the cowl flap on each side. And thats with the cowl flaps fully closed.

The 110 is an awesome little motor. I even got one to fit in a 1/5th scale P47!

I can not to do these changes because it will lead to other many bigger problems and changes :)
So I made the changes in the fuselage , the longer vertical stab , longer tail front the stab. the long and thin nose , and today I send the files for cut :)
I made the wood cowl with idea to make from it plug for composite cowl . I made also angles of the two ribs front the vertical stab as on the real airplane, was a little difficult but now is ok :)

I would never buy the engine from HK,but I might be temped too buy from Octopusrc.com and then send it too Frank Bowman and have him look it over and replace the piston rings. If I stay with the standard 1/4 32 ME-8 spark plug cap to cap distance is 215mm[shoe horn fit] The engine on sale now http://octopusrc.com/shop/index.php?...product_id=308 :p

Dowmer 02-24-2015 04:35 PM

Rich, I agree the octopus rc option would be nice. I like that they let you upgrade and I've heard many people say they like their service. Ticketec has a HK version and it has run great for him. I will say that I've bought 50cc motors from HK in the past and have had great results but I know there are others that haven't. To each his own.

vertical grimmace 02-24-2015 05:07 PM

Funny, HK is selling OS engines as well now.
