Is anyone mildly annoyed with the AMA/FAA?
 

Is anybody disappointed that we (traditional modelers) were just lumped in with the drones in the recent FAA rules?

We're right where the faa wants us. They never had any intention of keeping us seperated from the drones. Only thing that I see having a chance of possibly working is lawyers.
and lots of cash.

SUPPOSEDLY, the AMA is suing the FAA for violating the laws laid out be congress over model airplanes so your "Lawyers" comment may have some basis in fact

This ship has sailed. Even if the AMA decided to divorce it self from the drones, it can't, it's to intertwined governmentally. We have been sold "down the river" for a promise of FAA money to administer pilots.

Write your Congressman. Demand that they enforce the restrictions on the FAA's power that was clearly spelled out in the 2012 FAA Modernization and Reform Act.

I think clarifications are soon to come will wait and see your local AMA sanctioned R/C club should keep you posted as to requirements I DO see me paying $5.00 though..

Nothing has been written anywhere about the AMA trying to "divorce" itself from the drones. It can of course, but that will never happen. Wouldn't matter anyway given the FAA's definition. I've seen some pretty interesting theories about how all of this went down, but I think being sold down the river for FAA money to administer pilots is a first, anywhere. Can you explain that further? Are you saying the AMA sold us down the river so they could get FAA money to do something with pilots? I don't follow what you said there.

Annoyed with the FAA yes, but don't blame AMA, as I believe they are doing their best.

Already registered and paid the $5. Got my number and its done. Piece of cake. I did want to have to worry about so I got it over with. As far as drones go, they belong in the military, period. I new this was going to a problem as soon as they appeared in the stores.
