Great Planes B-25 ARF
Couldn't decide which forum was best to post this, ARF, Twins, or Warbirds but since the B-25 is definitely a warbird..........

An ARC! That means I can finish as a Dolittle raider!
I hope they have provivions for operating bomb bay doors, and room for bomb drops. This was definately the right place to post it, THANKS! |
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
The "complaining" about scale accuracy must be paying off, looks like they are listening. That is an extremely nice rendition of the B-25.

RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
MAN says it will have a 90" wingspan!

RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
She changed the post from Great Planes to Top Flite B-25 and deleted the old post. Here is the new link:

RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
That is a nice size and nice warbird. No room but it sure could be a "I want model" ARC! now we are talking!

RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
If it is as well done as the Mustang, should be a winner. The one in the pic does look nice. I really like the ARC idea. Hope that part will catch on with other mfg's.
BTW, nothing on Top Flites site yet :http://www.top-flite.com |
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
Holy S... Batman! your right just anothet plane I can not do with out. Need a bigger house to put them in. LOL Fantastic Top Flight!

RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
Count me in. The electric conversion sounds interesting. Does it have retracts?
|
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
I wish they would have gone up to a 101" W/S to match Ziroli's, but oh well, it will still be AWESOME! I know of a few who will probably have to have one. I'll stick to my Ziroli B-25J for now. I'll be interested to see what the price tag will be.

RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
wich of the ziroli b25 do you have? the big one or the smaller one?
|
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
I have to have one too, I purchased the Ziroli 101" plans and I am going for this B25 instead. I like the idea of an RTC version, it gives us great flexability. Anyone got any clue on a release date yet?

RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
Finally, the great rumor of 2004/2005 over at RCSB has born fruit! If only they included the wingspan. I wonder if its bigger than the old Royal B-25, but smaller than the Wing Mfg. /KMP B-25 offerings.
As for price... what do all of you think? Somewhere in the $300-$400 dollar range for the ARF? Maybe knock off fifty for the arc? One piece wing or two? Optional Robart retracts were mentioned. Again, the same ones for the Wing Mfg/KMP version or smaller??? No matter what, need to start saving for this one! |
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
Corsair Jock:
You mention a Doolittle Raider in your posting...I did my KMP B-25 as one..check out the 'Twin & Multi Engine RC Aircraft', forum and look for the "KMP-B-25 Construction", article, and on page 19,posting # 463 is one of "Doolittle Raiders" paint scheme... "Callie" did mine and she did a super job...Enjoy |
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
The quip from the MAN article says it will be 90", here is the quip:
"A built and covered B-25?? It's true! Top Flite debuted its new 90-inch-span B-25 ARF at Top Gun. It will be available at the end of the year, but well worth the wait!" |

RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
I don't know which issue it's in. I can't get my PW to work for some reason and I think that info is on the next page of the web ad, so I can't get to it. I haven't seen it in any of the issues I have either. I have through May2006. I am going to go back thru the March, April and May issues to see if I can find the article or ad. I looks to be one of those "New for 2006" or like that where they show 10 items on the page and say about 5 words on each...
Here's the link I can't get past: [link=http://www.modelairplanenews.com/ma/stories/listhotnews.asp?listStories=675&webid=42&logo=/ma/images/stories/&sgid=24&pictopic=/ma/graphics/header/hotnews_subhead#675]MAN B25 Article[/link] If you go to the current MAN home page you will see the ad that takes me to that one. RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
FlyRC78,
I have the smaller Ziroli B-25 with the 101" W/S. The 118" w/s version was not available when I started the 101" w/s version. "Keep 'Em Flying!" Flak |
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
I have the 101" plans from Ziroli but I have been building a Don Smith B17 for almost a year and a half so I welcome the thought of an uncovered 90" B25.
Did you finish your Ziroli B25 yet Flak? |
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
Rickles56,
No, Ihave not yet finished my ziroli B-25J. Too many projects. However, she is getting closer. I'm currently finishing a couple of P-51's, a T/F 1/7th Scale and a T/F 1/5th Scale. "Keep 'Em Flying!" Flak |
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
Flak, how does the 101" b25 build/fly? What did you use for power? I have plans from Vintage rc for a 71"B25, will need some equipment updating, but the plans look pretty good. Thanks for the feedback

RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
FlyRC78,
I don't think a 71" W/S B-25 will fly anything under FAST! There isn't much wing there. You could build a 101" or 118" W/S in the same amount of timeand have a more stable flying Warbird. I have not finished my B-25J as I'm taking my time, working around other projects, and covedring her in Flite Metal. The fuse looke really good, it's Flite metaled. I have 2 P-51's and a P-40 going also, so I tend to go from one plane to another. However, I'll come to and end process on all close to the same time. I call it Shifting Mindset. This allows me not to suffer from Burnout from one project. It's not a hobby, it's a sickness. There is a fine line between love and addiction, genius and madness. Black is merely the opposite side of white as Night is the opposite of day. Man, I need to stop before I sink so deep in thought that I find myself climbing out. "Keep 'Em Flying!" Flak |
RE: Great Planes B-25 ARF
Flak.... I would love to build a 101" zb25, but do not have the funds for such a project, or experience flying something that size. I have only flown 60-70" span models. The Vintage rc b25 has flaps, retracts, all the bells and whistles. Fred recomended a pair of 52 4 strokes for power. My concern is the copywrite is June 1971. Thats a 35 year old design, needs some modernizing i guess you could say. I don't know. I want to build a b25, not an arf. Now, if the new Great Planes/Top Flite b25 was offered in a kit, then i would be set.....
