H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
I like to see this plane with a OS 60fx and some smoke[sm=thumbup.gif] 4blade prop and bomb drop's, uhhh! i like it already!!
what do you think guys?

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
The only tri-color Hellcat that swung a 4-blade prop was the second prototype, XF6F-2. Don't remember seeing any production tri-color Hellcats swinging a 4-blade prop. The OS 60FX can't swing a decent size 4-blade prop anyway.

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
puget sound huh? we just moved out from Bellingham,wa about 2 months ago, well i just thout it would look nice with a 4B prop but a 3b will do the trick and all navy blue.

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
Overall "glossy sea blue" would look nice. I like to see a video of someone flying this plane with an OS 60FX swinging a 4-blade prop.

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
How about the brand new O.S. 120 TWO CYCLE_ which would surly swing a larger Dia. [8D]

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
The RCV 90SP or 120SP would swing larger diameter multi-bladed props [8D]

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
I hope the retracts are decent in the Hellcat. I really want to get one but I want to see what the opinion of the gear is first. I have an OS 91 Surpass that needs a home!

I'll be doing a Product Review on the Hellcat using the new Zenoah G-20 gas engine.

Plus an engine test too

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
Just got an e-mail from Horizon: they will be shipping mine next week. The manual is now available for download (Adobe reader required). Looks like the servos will be in the fuselage, above the wing, instead of in the tail as they have done on past warbirds.

Hellcat manual:

Beats me why anyone would want to stick a 2 1/2 lb, $340 2 cycle gas engine in an 8~9 lb warbird, just to save on fuel costs, when a 1 1/4 lb, $265 4 stroke engine (Saito .91) would probably supply more than enough power, AND sound a helluvalot better. Oh well, to each his own.

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
I can tell you the answer to that question. Because Hangar 9 and Horizon asked me to do it for our Product Review and Engine Test in the magazine.

That's why.

Plus some of us love gas engines for reliability, longevity, already mentioned fuel costs, and my favorite and personal reason no dealing with all that glow oil mess at the end of the day.As said to each his own enjoy your glow engines;)

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
Hi Everybody!:)

I´m brandnew here and I also intend to build the new H9 Hellcat.

What retracts will you use? I thought about a CJ for the H9 Hellcat.

I´ll use most probably the Saito 100 or the OS 91, which also will provide enough power (in my opinion)!

Greetings from Vienna

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
Let us know how the retracts are. Hopefully H9 has listened to us and made them a little stronger for the Hellcat.

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
Looking forward to the review, Dick. That little Zenoah intrigues me.

Hellcat716 06-02-2006 04:49 PM

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
I believe you will need to add about 15oz of lead in the tail for the hellcat to balance. They quote the Zenoah will weigh 41 oz compared to 19oz for the Saito 100. I will use the Saito 100 like I have used in all my Hanga 9 warbirds. No additional weight required. With the correct exhaust system, I get very little residue on my aircraft when finished flying.

yeah you do your homework on that zenoah 20/hellcat combo, I like gas powered engines[sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif] yup!!
I will be very happy to see this kitten purring with a gas small block

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
I will do my homework. Can't understand why I can't make a comment without hurting your feelings. Sorry I spoke on this forum. Just was making a true statement. I guess you are correct all the time. Good luck with your $330.00 Zenoah gas engine. Hope you have a powerfull battery for it's ignition system. It uses a lot of battery for the amount of time it's running. Let me know how it work's out for you.

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
Personally I think CorsairJock has the right idea. A Saito 100 would be perfection. Pity is doesn't have a flap option. I like the F6F, prefer the F4U, but would like to own both someday. They'd look good stiiing on the grass together. Anybody know the scale of the F6F?

Hellcat716 06-03-2006 08:19 PM

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
I believe it would be about 1/7 scale.

.................... Anybody know the scale of the F6F?
Homework: Full scale has wingspan of 42', 10", or 514". Divide by wingspan of H9 Hellcat (64.6 inches) and the verdict is: 7.9566, OR 1/8 scale for all practical purposes. Strange thing is: the CMP Hellcat has 70" span, yet it's fuselage is 1/8 scale (I have Bob Hollman 1/8 scale plans). Thus, the CMP wing is way out of proportion/ exaggerated span. Doesn't seem to bother all those guys who have the time to completely re-do/ re-build it tho.

Why does Hangar 9 recommend a 1/7 scale pilot if is 1/8 scale?

You would have to ask them, as I am in no way associated with them. While your at it, maybe contact Top Flite and ask them same question, regarding thier .60 size Corsair.
Possibly it is because for some reason: 1/8 scale pilots are hard to find.

It would seem that many times, some of us well informed modelers know more facts about their models than the manufacturers and distibutors do.

If there are any doubts, do the math.

RE: H9-F6F Hellcat 60 ARF
I looked at the zenoah 20cc vs the thunder tiger 61 and I started to lean towards the TT61 with S-3110 futaba servos for ele rud and tail and a 6v 2000mah batt, but i still looking for some better equipment. any thouhts![sm=idea.gif].
