I have the ESM with sierra gear and G-38. great combo. Love the plane. there are a few nice threads on this ESM 74". please let us know if you plan to post build info as I would love more tips. I love the look of this plane in the air. I installed a retractable trail wheel and it looks awesome on flybys. lands like a baby!!

I have the 74 esm , like the look of the kit and still gathering parts for a scale bash but recently not real happy with the reports of the center wing problems, and other points of weakness.
I am hoping its worth the effort |
LDM I have had two of these. First lost to engine failure. And neither had a problem with the center wing. I love mine and the look of it in the air. Mine came in at 19 pounds with Converted G-38, sierra gear, and a retractable tailwheel.

thanks that is good to know . I was getting worried on the reports of the wings bubbleing in the center ect and even flitshin did not work on the inside .
Thanks again |

I am hoping its worth the effort Oh it's worth it! I'm having fun now! http://youtu.be/NRcuTz0PqBo |
nice flight , what do you have under the hood !!!
|
That's a DLE 35 ra with a 19x8 Zoar prop. I have an 18" three blade when I get this engine completely broken in. The DLE fits and runs great in this plane. For balance I have 2 SR 3000 mAh NiCds inside the cowl for redundancy. I still had to add some lead shot.

Very nice , really flys scale and sounds great .
I am still on the fence about gas or electric , originally planned for a electric conversion but as we all know when you go larger gas is simply easier and provides longer flights |
Maybe you should try stuffing the evolution 35cc 7 cylinder radial in it
:) Diameter is 7.3 inches so should fit just fine |
kahlog if it was a gas engine I might have tried that myself. Not sure if it would of had the horses for this plane though. @55 I have a dle 35 on my H9 Mustang and love it. I am running a 20x8 xoar and will be moving to a 19x8 as soon as it gets here. I think the 20x8 is to much prop until the engine gets broke in. That 35 looks like it pulls the Corsair nicely. Do you know where your CG is at?
|
No...cuz mine hasn't even arrived yet.

If anyone is interested in using the OS 200 and Keleo muffler for their Corsair I have both for sale in the classifieds. Due to an unfortunate set of circumstances my corsair is no longer around. The crash did not do any damage to the engine or muffler but just in case I sent it off to OS (Hobby Services) and had them replace bearings, cylinder sleeve and piston ( I wanted it back to new) as I planned to use it in my next project. I have decided to go with gas so have put the 200 up for sale. It will need to be broken in again but you can be sure that it is "like new". Send me a PM if interested.
My Sierra gear is up for sale also. SOLD Thanks |

Thanks Tevans. Appreciate it.
Just ordered a DA-35 for mine. I know I know it's not a four stroke so wont sound decent. But I like their engines and it should go well. :) |

Plug lead will stick out the bottom. Not sure if I want to find something that will fit inside the cowl or not. Edit: Actually a chunk of the head will be as well. I guess I can buy another cowl and fit something else later. |
Is it worth changing the horizontal stab tube to carbon fibre tube?
Would like to keep the tail as light as possible. |

The DLE 35ra doesn't stick out to much. Is the DA much different? I have also cut most of those exhaust pipes off after this photo was taken.
|
With the DA I had to cut about the same amount out of the cowl.
But the DA-35's plug sticks straight out. Not angled like the DLE. I made an error and cut the cowl ring to make room for the exhaust etc and now it's going to be a pig to get the cowl ring glued in correctly. Probably going to have to screw the cowl ring onto the firewall at the top position and then slide cowl over, line it all up and tack the ring into position inside the cowl with medium CA. Then remove the assembly and glass the ring in. Been out of the game too long. Silly mistake. But I will be able to fix it. :) |
I am also going to change the horizontal stabilizer tube to carbon fibre and the wing leading edge mounting dowels as well.
The stock mounting dowels I already fitted, but they look way too tiny for such a large warbird. I also fitted CA hinges to the ailerons, but I think I might cut them out and go with Robart hingepoints. I will be doing all surfaces with these. |
Oversized cowl for Radial.
Hello All,
I read some time ago, There was an slightly over sized cowl that allows the Saito R3 170 radial to fit inside without the heads sticking out. Does anyone have info on this cowl? I have a Saito I wish to use on my Corsair. dave |
I have a great plane corsair cowl that is 10" in diameter.
