RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I'm going to use the same set-up in mine also, so I'm also interested in feedback.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Either prop will be fine. Ive got an 18x12 on mine and the prop clearance is decent enough.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Thanks Kahloq! What do you think of the rpm values that I obtained for that motor? Are they within normal limits?
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Ive never ran one of those motors. I usually run 4 strokes when using glow motors. But 8200-8800 seems like a good spot and thats where many larger 4 stroke motors would be running at.
Ive got a 150 that runs about 9100, but my 220 runs closer to 8400. Again...these are four strokes. The only 2 strokes ive ever had were smaller .46 types and they could run high 10000, but they are much smaller. Just as a point of note....at 8200 rpms, with a 10 pitch, your going to see about 77mph in the air....however...most motors unload a bit once in the air so might see 8500 which would be about 80.5mph |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Thanks Kahloq! I'm just not sure if I'm getting the appropriate RPMs out of this motor., Messer

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
messer if you go on youtube and search a few CMP 109s, you will see many of them flying with the 160. At that point you can contact the flyer for prop specs.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Saw one of these flying at the field today and was seriously impressed with how it flew. Don't know what happened to CMP but if they had kept going they could have really kept putting out some good warbirds.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
CMP is still around.....its just nitroplanes doesnt seem to restock them ever.
www.cmpairplane.com However, nitroplanes.com does still show this ME-109 as being in stock. |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
HoT Rod,
I'm also have an OS 1.60 in my plane. Saw your flight report. I havent maidened mine yet. I' m planning on using a 18x8 ZOAR wood prop but also have an 17x10 APC. Which would be better for the maiden flight? Thanks, Messer |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
That's a great idea Kahloq using magnets to hold on the exhaust stacks. I was thinking of doing the same to hold on the cowl.Where did yoiu get the rare earth magnets?,
Thanks, Messer |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I do the same to hold on my exhaust stacks. Get rare earths at Michaels, Joanns, or a similiar craft store.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Guys,
Does anyone know the difference between the Golden Age and Vintage Williams Bros. tires besides the dimensions?Iasume one is a WW II and the other a WWI, not sure which is which. I actually purchased the 3 3/4 inch golden age. HopeI got the right one., Thanks, Messer |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Here is some info I put together on some of the wheel manfucturers in this thread page 62 . I believe the ones I measured were the Golden age. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_78...tm.htm#9776877

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Thanks 21 onen,
The ones in your photo do look like golden age wheels. |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
This thread has been quite for a while. I just got my BF109 from Nitroplanes for an early Christmas present. I have also been gathering the various extra parts need for the build. I do not plan an extreme bash as several of you have done. I have stared by reading this entire thread. Some very good info here, thanks all.
sierra retracts designed for this plane but converted to electric by "Down and Locked" Evolution 26GX gas engine JRcontrols I have not settled on the spinner yet. Full cockpit and new canopy from TY <br type="_moz" /> |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Have you had anything converted from down and locked yet ?
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
No not yet, this will be the first. However, I have checked them out as best I can and have not found anything unfavorable about them. A friend of mine at our flying field has a set of Roberts converted vy rhwm and is very satisfied. I had converted some Roberts with the Lado actuators and his is a much better solution. I have emailed them to get a cost estimate. We shall see. One thing for sure. I much prefer electric retracts to the other options.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
In RCG banana FW190 thread they were concerned that some of the retracts that come with the model draw up to 3amps while moving. one guy hooked up a amp meter and showed 2amp in normal operation, 3amps if they are stalled. the question is will runway FOD cause an Rx reboot ?
finished my cmp me now going to convert to electric. Turnagy SK3 5065-320 castle ice 100 8s1p 16x12x2 |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
This is true of some of the cheap electrics. However I have put a on board telemetry sensor on my Lados and have never recorded that much draw. 1.5 amps is the most I have ever recorded and that was for a spike just before they shot down due to a stall causd by a bent strut. The Lados and the down and Locked ones shut down when they since excessive amp draw caused by any binding. They also extend to the down and locked position when low voltage is detected. When I say low voltage I mean a voltage above the save level for the receiver but one tha could be a concern to the safety of the model. I will be running a lithem ion 11volt flight pack with voltage regulator as I do on all my models. It is capable of pretty high current draw.

Larry,
I am using a spinner from Dave Platt. Fiberglass cone with an aluminum back plate. It is slightly smaller than the original one but it works well. I had an OS 160 in mine and thought it was way too fast, plus I had issues with it running inverted. ( 2 deadsticks). I ended up putting a Saito 150 in it and not only does it fly well it sounds better than the 2 stroke. This plane was too fast with the 160 in it for me lol. I didnt like the paint scheme it came in so I did the desert camo for awhile. I get bored easily so I went with another scheme this Fall. |
