Hi!
Have bought a Dave Platt Me109 on Ebay and started building it together with a buddy. Have wanted to build this kit for about 25 years, and now it's progressing very fast.
The engine will be a Laser 240V with scale exhaust. Shindin gear and working slats;)

what are you making your canopy from?

I strongly suggest balancing the model at least one inch forward of the mark shown on the plan.

Good luck!

The frame are made of thin aluminum and welded.

Note that the Platt spinner does not fit his original plans drawing at the cowl/backplate location. It is too small. about 1/4" if I remember correctly. Plan ahead.

Yes, that's right. We made a new part to fit the spinner.

I think a laser 240 is way more power then you need. I fly mine with an OS 108 and the plane is extremely light and flies fast. I also added radiator and wing flaps.

Yes, it will be overpowered. But it's the only fourstroke which kan be hidden under the cowling. The 160V is about the same size. Maybe it's enough power with the smaller engine
The plane is very nimble and light. I'm using a 200V in my TA152c with a span of 211cm and weights 9500g

Roydefiant and TA152,

I have a Platt -109 built according to the original plans; no flaps. I'd like to build another wing to include the flaps and possibly slats. Are modified plans available showing these features?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom!
I don't know if it exists plans with flaps. We have designed them after pics and detail plans. The Me109 have a very complex radiator flap setup.
You can read more about it here;

Tom, nice looking flap setup. I did my wing with outer flaps and only the bottom part of the radiator flaps. It's not difficult to get them on one servo per side, but I used high power mini metal gear servos for each flap. I used an OS 1.2AX will maiden in the next couple months.

Happy building.

Mike

Here is a wing plan with working flaps and slats for the 80" F/G model, if you still looking just PM.

Isaw you fly your model at the TopGun contest a few years ago, that was the best Messerschmitt Ihave ever seen.

Have done some more work on the radiators now. They will have working lip on the front edge coupled with the throttle.

Thanks for the comps. Hope that it flies as nice as I'm hoping it will.

Really dig that radiator flap setup. Cool to have the top side units function as well. Nice work.

Thanks Jugman.....that 109 was my own design "e" model. It flew very well....much like a pattern ship. Even the ground handling wasn't bad, you just had to stay on top of it and use that rudder! I crashed that one due to a bad RX crystal after 8 years of flying it. I am planning on a new larger one with operable wing slats if I ever get my work caught up.

Have made working exhaust stacks and finished the radiators and flaps. Anyone knows what the critical weight of this plane are?

what do you mean by critical weight?

RE: 1/5 Platt Me 109G

Yup, that's awesome work. On the weight....mine is right at 17lbs loaded, and that seems to be where most of them are coming in. From what I've seen of the flying, they seem like they can go a bit heavier and still be just fine as they seem to fly pretty light on the wing.
