If so, I may jump on it. Report please.

There was one at a local event with 4 46ax fitted surprisingly sounded great and looked good. Can't say too much about the build however it not that expensive.

Global/Hobby People have gotta be embarassed by this one. It wouldnt of been so bad if the plane was released in the United States first. Australia got them first. Seems they can make a profit at $1200.00 for the kit and retracts together. We cant here? They can keep their plane. I gotta tell you, this is the first time Ive seen this kind of greed from a distributer.

I'll try overseas. If I cant get it so be it. I wont be robbed in broad daylight.

Agreed!
I rarely complain and won't throw anyone to the lions, but Hobby people used to carry products for a resonable price. Their ARF's have ALL been so overpriced, it's shameful. I guess they need to pay for those overpriced house in Orange Co, CA by whatever means they can.

I look forward to very few thingsin life. This was one of them. I'm a little angry and greatly disappointed. I'm going on pure principle on this one. I have the money and had already bought all the motors and servos. All I needed was the plane and I would have paid the price asked if that was what was concidered as reasonable by all. I did think it was too high as many others did. I was told it was the lowest possible price. Well it seems $856.00 is a price that has profit to the seller. I believe everyone should make a profit. I do not believe you should reward gougeing even if you really want what is being sold, which in this case I do.

I saw the plane today.

This is not "Old ASM" this plane is SOLID. I was very pleased with the construction and the weight. The ABS plastic seems very tough and durable. It DOES NOT BEND AND FLEX like the old ASM planes. The inner skeleton is rigid and more than ample for everyday use. The wings and stabs are supurb. The finish is a overspray on the glossy finish of the film such as Monocoat that has a oxidized look and feel. The panel lines are somewhat poor but look like they can be fixed. There are a few places that need some type of modification for strength. The wing fairings for sure! The landing gear are very questionable. They look like ESM gear at a higher price. Fairly cheezy.

So the big question! Is the plane worth $1400 and the gear $500. Answer? No. The price needs dropped down and Im sure it will after the idiots, such as myself, have been filtered out. Yes, I bought the plane. Lets just say I have more $ than brains and call it a day. I did make the hobby shops day! They are great folks and it made me happy to support my LHS even tho I was getting robbed. I think the total as $2080.00 USD for the plane and the gear. I left the plane at the Hobby Shop and will be picking it up Friday. The box is about 5'X2'X1.5' just shy of fitting in the car I was driving. As with all my ARFs I will add my personal touches to make her last and look spectacular.

I think/hope its going to be a great plane! I'll fly this one while I build the WingSpan Models B-17 and take my time to do it right.

$2080? That's not even how much I have invested in a 80" warbird and then I have to put it together :( In all honesty they should charge $2500 for that size bomber

Yo, Speed...

So you're into getting robbed http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_6_12.gifWell, at least you do it in style... Ain't no way that mess is worth $2K even though 4 engines turn me on http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_2_22.gifIf that puppy comes down to $800 to $1K, I may give it a shot, but until then, I'll just be happy watchin' yours.

Be Easy!

I have a few photos. The plane seems real sweet so far. Only a few things need attention.

Speed, my Man...

I can't touch the skin of that puppy, but the wood workings look real nice and strong. So the wing span is 138? I thought it was much shorter. Anyways, she looks good; looking forward to seeing your build and video. You are now the star of this thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ades_smile.gifso let's get hoppin'...

Good luck,

Your looking at my 138" WingSpan Models B-17. Its a kit. This is an Advanced Scale Models 120" ARF. I became tired of waiting for this model and purchased the WingSpan kit. Then this one popped up. So......now I have both. I bought and paid for the WingSpan kit on the 22nd of last month. It hasnt shipped yet as they are custom built after you buy them. So as far as the wife knows, I have one big kit that came in two shipments that had a partially built plane with enough scrap wood to build another complete plane!!:D

Sad right........at the price listed it will be just me.[:o] I have always liked building with other guys on the threads. Someone always has a fix, mod, hop up, enhancement, warning or flight info to share. Not this time.:(

You will like the Wingspan Model B17 I am building this puppy now. I did not have it ready this year for Bomber Field. It has taken me about a year to finish this plane. I hope to have it ready for its first flight in December. Be ready to spend the money. I will have about $4000 dollars in this plane when finshed. Good luck with both planes.

I'm right there with you. I had found a coupon at anther thread for 20% off the WingSpan kit and gear. It was a no brainer at that point. This plane will be a great trainer for the WingSpan B-17.

For what it's worth, and I have never seen the kit except in pictures on the internet: I don't think $1200 is too much to pay for a 120" wingspan B-17, even if it does not include retracts. Conisder that most Warbird ARFS in the 80" span range sell for over $400, and do not come with retracts. Altho only 50% bigger span wise, it is actually close to TWICE as big volume and/ or mass wise.

$1200 is not in my budget, so I won't be getting this, or any other ARF this big. Not to mention, I don't have means to transport a model this big. But if I COULD afford it and had a descent trailer: I would buy it and the retracts, and 4 Saito .62s in a heartbeat.

You do know this plane can be transported with the wing tips off in a Ford Expedition? The plane also comes apart in the middle so you can transport in a car if you please.
