RE: stupid qustion
Repair depends on the amount of damage.
Light damage, a little silkspan and dope. Or, between sorties, even a little blue masking tape.
Heavier, patch a frame or two with new balsa, silkspan and dope. (or, wider tape)
Lots of damage, reskin. Some reskin almost every battle (it's not hard), others reskin every couple of years. I have one ship that has never been reskinned in almost 4 years, another that has had 1/4's (usually the bow sections) reskinned once or twice in 2 years, and it is due for another reskin right now. Probably do it before the next battle.
The frame is rarely damaged and is easily repaired. Superstructures, unless armored, can start to took pretty tatty after a while, but you just replace the bad bits if you think it is tending more toward ugly than "having character."
