Armed Forces Battle
To let people know the Buckeye Battle Squadron is holding a Armed Froces Battle in Newark Ohio May 16,17 ,18. This is a small gun event and useing Irwcc rule set. This is not a IRWCC Sanctioned event.

Hi Bud et al,
I'm looking forward to seeing this. More than a decade ago, while living in
Boston, I discovered RC Warship Combat and can honestly say it was one of
the most fun, and rewarding endeavors I've ever taken up in my life. Back in
those days we were using freon 22. I know these days you folks are using CO2
which entailsusing more/heavier hardware and fittings. (I feel sorry for the destroyer
guys)
I'm happy to see there is at least one supplierwho seems to be covering all the needs
of a new guy getting into the hobby. The BB "cannon" systems specifically are something
that an ordinary fellow with no machine shop at hand would find impossibleto build.
An interesting method I used years ago when Iwas fashioning my own, hand made
magazines involved using a bismuth alloy.
Asyou know if you've ever tried to bend 1/4 inch copper tubing, the -slightest-kink will
result ina jam rendering a gun inoperable.Bismuth alloyhas a melting
temperature as low asboiling water and depending upon the mixture of the alloy,
even lower. Anyway, one can take the length of copper tubing, cap one end, and
pour the bismuth into it, filling the entire length of the tubing to be used for the
magazine. Once cooled/hardened, simply use whatever tool you're going to
use to shape the magazine and bend it as needed. The bismuth inside the
tubing will keep the tubing from kinking at all.
Once you've got it into the shape you need, remove the cap from the
previously plugged end of the magazine and dip the magazine into a pot of boiling
water and the bismuth will again melt and you're all set.
It's a good idea to roll a bunch of bbs through the tubing while it's still in the
boiling water to pick up any loose/tiny bits of bismuth which may have been reluctant
to exit the tube. (You'll see a small "coating"of sorts on the bbs you run through the
tube.
Anyway, the end result is a magazine which is bent/shaped to any shape you
desired and which works perfectly well.
