So I've been lurking this thread for a bit, and finally received my Caldera 10e today. This is my first rc truck in about 20 yrs., and my wife says im going through a mid-life crisis!!!! Anyhow, I received the older version as the ESC is in a different spot and the servo is the B7014. Are there any advantages to having the new configuration from the original? The new config looks to me like the rx is protected a bit more. Also, would you suggest that i put the rx in a balloon to help protect it from water damage (we get a lot of rain throughtout the year, and I would be using it on wet ground)?
its never a bad idea to stick your RX in a ballon. its cheap/easy insurance. RX are most likely to fail do to a spash of water in my experience(the open ports let even a tiny amount of water cause glitching)
im not sure on the diff between the old/newer versions.
if i buy one, i plan on putting the ESC on the upper chassis bar. i do this with most RC's as it will get a more airflow to cool it. just my opinion. nothing really wrong with the stock location.
