I still need to tighten up the sloppy factory steering setup. Stock motor controller is junk. The hobby king 80a I bought for 50 bucks and water proofed with liquid electrical tape doesn't even break a sweat pushing the stock motor with a 21 tooth pinion! Running the 6 dollar motor heat sink and motor never gets too hot to touch.
How did you get a 21 tooth pinion in there? Did you drill new holes in the motor mount? I have 10xb, and it runs the same motor mount, the biggest I could fit was a 17 tooth. I had to cut the slot out more, and then was up against one of the screws that hold the motor on. Was just wandering what you did. I have thought about drilling new holes in different positions, witch would allow the slots to be longer.

I have a 15T in mine now and I cant imagine how you fit a 21t. I almost have my motor adjusted all the way out to achieve proper gear mesh. Im betting I could fit a 17T, but anything over that would probably require drilling a new hole in the bracket. So far Ive put a CC Sidewinder 3 5700kv combo in my Caldera XB with a 15T pinion and 2s lipo. I also refilled the shocks with 40wt oil. Next upgrade will be aluminum knuckles and c hubs to keep the damn screws from backing out. Would love to test top speed further, unfortunately with its current power, it runs out of the crappy remote range pretty quick. Thinking about getting a new tx/rx setup soon. I was able to get 45mph out of it with the new motor/esc on 13T pinion, and it definitely seems faster on the 15t, with no real noticeable low end tq loss.

No mods to the motor mount, it is adjusted all the way open. It surprisingly works great as a stop with perfect backlash!

Actually now that I count the teeth on that pinion I think it is only 17.

Yes that is a 17. lol. Oh well, as long as it runs good. I run a 17, and a 14, on my buggy depending which tires I have on it.

As promised, here's a GPS speed for the new Tacon 3660-540L-7T with a 15 tooth pinion on it. It hit 36 mph and was virtually uncontrollable. I only got to run it on my street and it's cold here so the truck has very little traction but the motor clearly has more twist than the stocker. The stock tires expand a lot at these speeds. The very next day we got over a foot of snow so that's probably the end of outside RC'ing until spring.

Measure your tie rods and find the thread pitch of the threaded parts on them. You should be able to find a part then.

Just found out that 20c 5000 mah lipos aren't enough punch with 4 paddles, I geared down to the fifteen tooth and turned punch control the way up and turned throttle limit to 20 percent on my hobby king 80 amp. Lvc it's set to 2.6. It runs now but nothing like when I had it turned up lol. Oh well need some 3s batteries and a new motor to go with my 120 amp hobby wing sc-8 esc that's on the way right now. Any one know if any good deals on a big 3s that will fit

I have not ran the four pole motor, but have a 3850 in my buggy, for a $20 motor, it is a beast.

Nice body daverr, thanks for the feedback westoakmech. I needed more discharge and since I don't have any better batteries here I decided to run two 5000 mah 20c lipo's, way better performance and 35 minutes of hard runtime through snow and hill climbing, pretty steep hill hard to walk up lol. I fell yesterday and broke my tx lol but another story. Now the truck will actually wheely over backwards! Running parallel now but 4s would be insane! Can already skip water on 2s. Will get some video whenever someone is around to take some.
