Redcat Starter Switch Melted - Here's My Fix!
Well I purchased two Red Cat Starters and both crapped out in a few days. It seems the switches on them melt and jam up. I don't think the plastic used is designed to be used around a high heat contact point.
Here's pictures of a melted switch:
So I contacted Redcat and they said I could send them back for repair, but what's the point, it will cost more to mail them back than it will to fix them and I don't feel like waiting 2-3 weeks to get them back. So I found some momentary switches I had lying around and decided to replace them rather then send them back for repair.
I took the casing apart, ripped out the melted switch and soldered up the new ones. I had to grind the casing a little bit to make it fit. Granted, it is a little ghetto looking, but the switches work a hell of a lot better.

Ihad the same problem with mine.. Worked for about five mins then stoped. Idid the same thing as you except I used a toggle switch (all i could find at my local autozone). Iused clamps on the wire with special sized ends to fit over the ends on the switch. Works great but looks pretty ghetto. My switch is bigger so it really dont fit well.
