well another newbie question for the pros, I'm looking at several hump packs and would like some input on what is being used that will allow me to play several hours off and on and not have to be worried about draining my receiver battery, I can get (2) 1400 mah hump packswith the Airtronics, JR, Hiteck connection for about $18 or spend around $40 on a packthat is 4500 mah and can be had with the same conncetion plus a charging lead as well.

Just wondering if I really need a 4500 mah pack or if I can run most of a day with just a couple of the 1400 mah packs.

I dont mind spending the $40 just wondering what you other fellas have found to do the trick for you so I dont spend more for a big pack that I may not really need.

well, even 2 of the 1400mah is still just half of the 4500(added together)
if you can afford the 4500 then i say go for that.
im thinking that the 1400's will get you through and hour of solid runtime. could be wrong tho.
so, the 4500 should get you a 2-3 hours of runtime per charge.

Thanks I'll go with the 4500 or maybe even the 5000mah it just a coupe bucks more.

You just need to be aware of the size of the bigger packs. The stock packs are 2/3 AA's and fit in the battery box. Sometimes the larger packs use regular sized AA's.

i had mentioned that to him in a PM. and also that some nitro owners forgo the battery box and just zip-tie a larger MAH pack somewhere else on the chassis.
the battery box is needed with the stock "AA" holder. but with a rechargable nimh pack its not nessesary.

I looked and there is a bice place to put a larger pack right behind the front diff, it would possibly make the buggy a little more nose heavy but it may stiil be balanced good enough not to cause and problem, foe sure something I am considering now that you mentined this and Ilooked a little closer at the amount of room I have to work with.
