About to get a Backdraft 8E (got it!!!)
Hello there,
I'm new on RCU and I'm a french Canadian from Quebec City.
I've been looking at the Backdraft 8E for a few weeks now with one of my friend.
I already own 1 ERBE and 1 MERV (Traxxas) and my friend has a Summit, MERV and Rally (Traxxas again) but we're interested in having a Buggy.
We will probably buy them directly from Sebastien (Stallone11) in Quebec but right now we're having a hard time reaching him these days, won't answer both phone, cellular or email...
Anyway...
We don't really race seriously but will be using them for smooth bashing (no big jump). Is there any upgrades that we MUST buy?
People seems to have servo problems on other models, what about the Backdraft 8E?
Thank you!

RE: About to get a Backdraft 8E (got it!!!)
My Earthquake 8e/ Backdraft 8e servo lasted a almost a year before I had to replace the servo .......... servos on all RTRs Traxxas HPI and Redcat are just not the best so It should get you for a good while but it is not that strong and slow for my taste. But if you're going to just bash and not do anyreally racing ie dirt track ect...........get the Earthquake 8e.

I have a mini e-revo and wanted to get the big e-revo but I ended up buying the Backdraft 8e. Just got it this week.
I am having a blast with the backdraft. Fast and fun. Seems like a good combo. All I did was move the shocks in, bent the sway arms a little (were hitting the springs) and tightened up the rear springs. Also set 10% brake drag.
Super fun and the price is great..

there is a programing card that you can get. the ESC's reciever plug just plugs into the programing card, and you go and set each feature as you want.
i have the programing card for my ezrun 35amp ESC's. i think the 80amp uses the same program card but im not sure. you can find them on ebay for $10-$15.

20c is enough with the Backdraft?
Thank you again
20c is enough with the Backdraft?
Thank you again
example.... a 20c 3000mah lipo is fine for the backdraft, but a 20c 800mah lipo would not.
if you can afford it, i suggest getting 30c 5000mah lipos. you can find them on ebay or hobbyking for about $30 each.

nice pics! those are some clean rides.
i never realized how big the e-revo is!
there was an aftershock 8e and several nitro version 3.5 owners who have had the diff pinions fail.
it is recommended that you open the diff, shim it if needed, and add some grease. that will prevent any problems.
enjoy!

Do you know what to use to shim the diff?
I will do that. Anyway it's winter here and since it is not waterproof it will stay inside my house until summer.
Got plenty of time to modify it!

im pretty sure if it needs to be shimmed you can use a washer.
if the pinion gear can be moved closer to the ring gear, just put a washer behind the pinion gear(on shaft) to move it forward in the diff housing a tad.
