Hi, i would like to know how do i know if my glow plug igniter battery is dead? is there a way to test his charge? how long does an average battery keep his charge?

Get an old glow plug or use the one you have and stick it in the end of the glow igniter and see if it glows bright red inside the glow plug. If it's real dim, the battery is dead. If it's real bright the battery is good.

Depends on how long you leave it hooked on the glow plug. Mine lasts me all day. I don't stick it on the glow plug till I'm ready to start the engine and then I only leave it on there a few seconds, most of my cars start with one or two pulls.

Also, if your glow plug doesn't glow it could be the plug that's bad and not the igniter. Make sure you have a plug you know is good.

It's also a good way to know if your glow plug in your truck is bad. I would recommend having an extra or old working glow plug so you can eliminate some of the guess work and so you don't have to keep pulling the glow plug out of the truck. The more times you do that, more chance you have of getting garbage in the cylinder and stripping the threads.

A power panel with a meter or a glow igniter with a guage is wonderful for eliminating guesswork.

I recently gota dynamite LiPo glow igniter. It stayed charged for 2 weeks or 3/4 gallons of fuel/starts. It has a led light thats green when the charge is good and the glow plug is working. It turns red if it needs to berecharged or the plug is bad.

Ihave one at the shop and it seems to work pretty well. My only concern is if you accidentally tried to charge it with your power panel(most power panels have a charge port) would it blow up?
