Question about my 3.5 engine....???
I plan on robbing my Earthquake 3.5 engine and using it on another Non-Redcat vehicle. I don't want the pull-start anymore and want to set-up this for a starter box. What backplate should i order and will it even be possible. This motor runs so strong in my converted backdraft that it should be a strong runner in a truggy I am planning on building but the pull-start has got to go.

RE: Question about my 3.5 engine....???
Anyone????
Maybe I should just use the O.S. engine I have laying around but the SH engine runs like a scallded dog.
There has to be some way to use this engine on the other truck.

I have never used a starter box but I thought that you could keep the pullstart on if you were using a box. As I understand it you only have to change the backplate if you are using a wand style starter. Is that wrong?

i think the starter box spins the flywheel (i think its called that) and the engine starts right up, so i think there is no need.

There may not be a need, but will be nice to have the pull start as a back up in case the battery packs in the box die or something else goes wrong with it.
I have the electric wand style starter with backing plates on both of my nitros and it sucked when the starter went out and I had no way of getting them to run. If I would have gone with a starter box I could have left the pull starts on and had a back up method of starting them.
