I am not into Nitros. But Redcat make a mean 1/8 scale buggy called the Backdraft 8e. I think there is a nitro version.
I have an electric Backdraft 8e and love it.

We've been selling Redcat since 2005 and the best 1/8th scale they have by far is the hurricane. If you are gonna go 1/8th buggy nitro the hurricane is the way to go, it's well put together and very beefy. I used to run one back a year or so ago and ran like a champ and the monsoon makes a good 1/8th truggy. All the rest are wanna be 1/8th scales. The ultra lites are not half as durable and are no competition for any kind of racing at all. Great bashers, but bad trackers.

No I was referring to the hurricane XP. They no longer carry it. Uhm it would be the Himoto Torpeda Pro. I think that was the name of the himoto version.

Got the Earthquake 3.5 in the other day. Nice truck! lots more trick to it than the Volcano. The battery and receiver covers are much better laid out, it has sway bars and Big tires that are a very soft compund.

The earthquake is a fun truck. It does pop some good wheelies.

Go with the Pro class (XTR/XP). They are worth any additional cost. The Pro class is built much better than the Ultralite Series.

I have an Avalanche XP and I have two buddies that have Pro class 1/8th's, one has the same truck as me and the other has a Monsoon XTR. We also have friends in our group that have the Ultralite class 1/8th vehicles. The Ultralites are nice, but no where near as well built as the Pro series cars.
