Default Gear pitch on electric redcats?

Does anyone know the gear pitch on the electric redcats? I tried a Robinson 48P pinion on my redcat and it seems to just slip on the spur gear. I put the stock pinion back on and it's fine. I'm wondering if it's 32P but does anyone know? 64P? I'm placing an order at tower soon and need to know. Thanks.

48P RR didn't work. Looking at 64P pinions on tower, it looks like it might be 64.

Just got the kit today and it's awsome! I tried a 16T METRIC 48pitch from my tamiya and it's very smooth and meshes fine. The kit is from asia mind you.

Pede thats your problem It needs to be a 48p metric which is tamiya specefic. I have some off brand electrics and I was in the same boat and found out most of the electric copies are tamiya copies.

I believe that they are 48 pitch gears. I have been running Robinson racing 48 pitch even pinions for about a year now in my electric redcats. I have some of the proto types. i have no problems yet. I think that most peoples problems with electric gears stripping is improper gear mesh. I see it allot at the track too. I have noticed that if you aren't careful when tightening the motor screws the motor slides over a little bit but, that little bit is enough to strip the gears.

You are right about the pitch but they want to know if its a standard pitch or metric. I can almost bet 100% thats its metric which is pretty much a tamiya thing.

OK AGAIN, for me the Imperial 48P was too small a teeth. The Metric 48P had chubbier teeth and meshed better. I cam 100% it aint standard imperial 48P.

I ended up using Tamiya drive gears on my 1/10th electrics. It worked fine although I think the pitch is different than stock because if one compairs the stock gear with the same tooth # in Tamiya the Tamiya is smaller.
This worked out well for me because I came to the conclusion my truggy was geared much too tall, it works much better with the lower gearing.
Nick has a good point about the motor moving around while tighting the mount screws. I put flat & lockwashers in there to stop the problem.
FYI, I'm down to a 16 Tamiya running Volcano wheels, just a stock motor, 5000mah battery, do not forget the brush conditioner!
It's a fun set up and is quite fast!
Monster Truggy!

redcat duz NOT USE 48P starderd pinions. aftr installin a steel spur in my lightning driftr, i hav jus destroyd 3 48p pinions in 3 min. robinson steel & aluminum 1s. aftr xtensive reserch jus now, redcat electric cars use 0.6 mod pitch, i.e. tamiya metric pitch. not inperial 48p. u can use a regular 48p imperial pinion if runnin a plastik spur. itll b a lil noisy, evn wif proper geer mesh. but a steel spur will destroy a 48p imperial pinion, wethr it b steel or alum.

dis thred needs bumping bcuz 3yrs later, redcat still uses 0.6 mod pinions.

1/8 scale is mod1

as 4 da lightning drift & volcano epx, its metric .6 mod pitch.
folks inside da usa wont find 2many .6mod pitch pinions. we need 2 look for AV pinions.

i jus installd a aluminum AV pinion jus now inda driftr. all i can say is wow!!!!! so much smoother & quieter!!!!!

a aluminum AV pinion & a STEEL spur is QUIETER den da stock plastic spur & steel robinson racing 48p pinion[X(]

its un real & i highly recomend evry1 wit a lightning drifter or v olcano epx run a AV pinion.

Iam having trouble getting good performance from my Volcano EPX. Can anyone share their experiences changing gears, part numbers etc. Itried a 15 tooth pinion which helped with the acceleration some but I think the com is burned up pretty well by now.
Ithink the stock gearing is way too tall.
