They are both pretty close to the same. It is going to be personal preference. If I was going to buy a 5th scale redcat it would be a rampage MT. They are bigger than both by substantial amount and would be more fun for me.

the XT is lighter.

dunerunner is longer. but the XT is much wider.

both 4wd.

dunerunner has a tad more ground clearance.

same motor in both.

basically, its up to preference on the 2. do you want a monster truck looking RC, or the buggy looking?

performance between the 2 will be simillar. handling will be a bit different, the buggy being longer and more narrow vs the shorter but wider XT.

also, the XT having larger tires will act different.

The MT is the same length but the it is over 2" wider. It also has about 2" more ground clearance. The XT is on the same platform as the XB so it is a buggy with bigger tires. The MT has thicker parts and dual steering servo's. They both come with their own inherant problems. Steering servo's are always an issue on either model. Diff cups tend to break easier on the MT. Differentials in general are not a strong suit of Redcat. The MT has more aftermarket support that I have found. But I think you would be happy with either choice in the end.

You can get all your answers on Redcat's website.

XT is 24 pounds
MT is 34 pounds

Same engine.

Max speed should be around 35-40mph I guess.

No way near the same the XT and the DR is complete different platforms The DR is way more durable then the XT because the XT had more plastic parts thats why its lighter the XT is a monster truck the DR is a buggy The XT series is the new platform that came out last the DR is a rampage that has been out the longest. The DR is a much better built 1/5 scale. Then you started talking about the MT and the XT but the post started the XT versers the Dunne Runner.

The DuneRunner is more like a HPI Baja

well, in appearance yes. but it drives VERY different being 4wd.

i had a baja, and didnt like only having 2wd. with that much weight and such a long wheel base it was easy to get sideways.

the dunerunner should handle much better.

the dunerunner or XT are both good IMO. the dunerunner has been around longer (current model is the 3rd update, V3) and thus has more refinements to it than the XT line.

The Dune Runner is more like a heavyweight Baja but the 4WD makes the difference in handling. It is definitely slow on take-off than a Baja and IMO a different class buggy. Now the XT is based on a way lighter platform...and I mean waaaaaay lighter. The difference in the two is apples to oranges. The basic engine/gearing/driveline is similar but the rest is different. The main difference is the size of the stock bearings (they don't handle higher gearing well), which has been rectified by aftermarket hop-ups. I have a XB, TT(which was the Dunerunner before I taco'd the chassis), and MT...the "X" series IMO would be the best entry level racers but the gas tank size is limiting for longer runs.
