RE: what size shims for diferential on 8e series

Im having trouble finding the part #, but there is a shim Kit (i think its listed as for the avalanche) which has all the shims you will need.
The pinion gear as well as the larger ring gear bearings may require shims. the kit has both sizes.
There is youtube videos explaining how it is done (may even have part # in video)
    Just search 8e diff shim.

Thanks, do you think that I could find the right size from a different make at a hobby store?

yes. if you pull the gear box apart and take to a hobby should they should have some shims the same size. But you might actually pay more buying the 2 sizes seperately instead of in the shim kit.
I was able to find the kit today: http://www.redcatracing.com/81069
