check the set screws for the center and rear drive shaft cups. If those get loose, the cups will just spin and not send power. if 1 rear drive shaft is loose, the diff will just unload to that side. if the rear-center is loose, then basically no power will go to the rear diff.

not shifting into second can be due to a few different things. if the motor is not revving high enough (usually from being to rich) then it will not shift.
Im not certain on the S30, but I know that the backdraft 3.5 has a set screw inside the center 2-speed housing which controls the RPMs at which the trans will shift (adjustable) but if that screw should come loose, it wont shift. youd have to look up the schematic to see if the s30 has a similar setup.

Thanks. And i found out why i didnt have power to the rear... One on my wheels has rounded out where the hex sits into it :/ ive got an extra set of wheels though. As for screws being loose the screw for the front drive cup was loose and twisted the center shaft for the trans, so im going to get a new tranny. I tried taking the trans apart but the little thing that comes out andd engages secong gear is messed up some how. One gear will spin free and the other will not one gear will spin either way with little resistance too.
So ill just spend 20 and get a new one and get a new wheel pull on.
Thanks nitro u always seem to have an answer!!!
