Hi guys,
It's a bit of a tricky one [:-] You don't want too much spring tension or you will make your servo work too hard and burn it out, plus you will end up with really sluggish throttle response due to the servo straining against the spring. A local nitro guru down here told me never to use a strong spring, as you get too much side pull on the carb slide mechanisim and this ends up wearing the slide on one side and eventually causes it to get rough and jam up.
I use 2 x silicone throttle bands, available from A-Main http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/7029
These are great and are resistant to fuel etc. Fit them the same way. One end around the HSN and the other under the nipple on the throttle body arm.
They may not close the throttle completely in case of a battery failure etc, but they are better than nothing. The only real answer is a proper failsafe device.
In the meantime just make sure you always race with new batteries in your controller and tape up all your battery plug conections in your reciever box to avoid any power failures. If you are still running AA cells, tape them into the battery holder so they can't bounce out after a jump etc and cause any problems.
Firebird - once you get that Lightening run in and set the gear change to where it works best, you will be stoked. These little mothers really fly. Just make sure you got plenty of room when you open it up. Once they drop into second gear you loose that engine braking effect, so when you throttle off and hit the brakes you are basically in free wheel mode, and they take a little longer to pull up from around 70 - 80 kph [X(]

Yea I wont supercharge. Seems a little much for a tiny engine cranking that many RPM's as it is. But the cold air seems good. Colder air means dryer air and more compressed air. It might mean a tiny bit more stress on the motor but rebuilding them really seems fun and part of the hobby. The fuel tubing as well looks great with that wire mesh covering on it. I am def gonna give those two a try. What you all think?

No reason why not guys It's sort of not really the Redcat Hurricane site specifically anymore. More like a lot of like minded nitro heads sharing information and ideas, and having a lot of fun learning about this neat hobby. I don't see a problem there at all !!!

Hi team, thought I'd add a posting to help reach the 10,000 mark, lol. I reckon it can happen.
The only petrol I get to burn lately is in my car on the way to work. No nitro in the buggies, no 2 stroke in the boat....what does a man have to do these days? LoL.
And Grizz you retirement location has been washed away again with massive waves washing all the beaches away. Wont be long before Ipswich becomes the new Surfers Paradise I reckon, hehe.
Zip ties, cable ties.....here in Queensland they are called either of the two, but someone confused me a few months ago by calling them "Jiffy Ties"..Hmmm that was a new one to me.
But in my mind they would have to be one of the worlds best creations!! They can be used for almost everything. The police and security services even use them for temporary detainments (hand/ankle cuffs), and we absolutely love them for the use on our buggies.
Once upon a time the paper clip was the world best invention, then someone made the bend in it and made lots of money. Did anyone see the thing about trading a red paper clip for a house? Google it.....it's amazing how far you can get with the most basic thing. "Paper clip" or "Red Paper Clip" not sure which one but you will get there. I wonder what sort of R/C toy we could get by trading the much loved zip tie?
Enough dribble from me, I have no R/C news, can't get out to play, just thought I should say g'day.
