I'd be reluctant to go with bigger wheels because these things are already geared too high, even in low gear. Bigger wheels would only make it less responsive off the line.

Question on the pull starter: when I pull the cord it only grabs for about one engine revolution, then the rest of the pull seems disengaged. Anyone else have this problem? What's the cause?

your one way bearing is wore out you can either take your pull start off and clean it and see if it grabs then if it dont grab after you clean it than you need a new one way bearing
here is the one way bearing that fits

Well, I think I'm reaching a decision point on this car. Last weekend we took it out and had a blast climbing and jumping it over the big mound of snow in the middle of our court. Lots of flips and crashes and so on. But despite mostly landing in snow, a lot of things got tore up. I have so much to replace I'm not sure it's worth it any more.

- the rear shockproof mount bent in a whole bunch, busting off the wing mount (I see stronger ones are now available)
- a rear dog bone busted (possibly because of the bad angles introduced from the bent shockproof mount)
- I still need a 2-speed transfer case
- starter needs work
- I can't keep clutch springs in it. I've put three springs in it in the last couple weeks and each one lasts barely a couple minutes. I've tried two different name brand springs too. The LHS guy said the clutch shoes aren't in that bad of shape so I don't know why.

Maybe it's better to buy a used Traxxas or Mugen, something that'll stand up to moderate punishment better than this car.

edit: just went to Top Speed Toys website, and they don't carry spare parts anymore?

When you put your springs on are u making sure u don't put the clasp where the 2 shoes come together? That might be breaking your springs so easily. I have the traxxas 4146x and it has been workin fine. No breaks. I have even takin it off and put on another pair of clutch shoes.

make sure you use the traxxas 4146x spring and keep the loop on the shoe not where it opens. i have it in all 3 of my redcats and they have been fine. also make sure you twist the ends on the spring together in oposite directions. clermontmotorsports.com is very reasonable on parts and he is getting a large order in any day.

I was careful to keep the spring hooks in the middle of the shoe. I can't recall which ones I bought but I'll write down that Traxxas number and see if I can get that exact one.

I checked out Clermont but they don't have many spares listed on their website. Plus they don't ship to Canada. Topspeedtoys was great, they were fast and great prices, it's too bad they quit the business. I would have thought that as more of these buggies got on the streets that there'd be more support, not less.

U could also try this spring it is alot cheaper than the Traxxas. The MIP spring is the replacement spring for the Traxxas. Here is a link for u.[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUR89&P=7]MIP spring[/link] I like the traxxas spring alot. The only thing is it is around 15 bucks and yu can't use the clutch that comes with it. I have not tried the MIP spring but a lot of people have.

When i first started my car today i could start it and put it on the ground and drive it but if i let go of the gas it would die and i tried different tuning's and know it still does the same thing but it dies sooner. Does anybody know what is going on.

I recently just placed an order for a Tornado BB and I am a little concerned on what to expect since this will be my first nitro buggy. Should I go ahead and plan on getting the HPI clutchbell and a spring. Is there anything else that I need to worry about going out on me in a very short amount of time. I am really hoping for this car to last since I will try to not pound on it too bad at first. I am not looking to really modify it to increase performance yet! I have been doing a little reading on here for a while and I most say that ya'll are some very helpful people.

get the clutch bell and clutch spring for sure, that should take care of it to make reliable. check out the sticky with the cluch bells and clutch spring, you want the 2 speed clutch bell.

With those three parts I would be set? How long do you think they stock ones will last? I would like to have a little fun with it before I need to start taking it apart.

alot of people strip their gears on their first couple of tanks and some poeple last a while, i would suggest changing them before you start it.

Thanks for the help. Would I be better off ordering these parts online or going to down to my local shop and trying to pick them up there.

It also seems that the stock clutch burns up springs. How long can I expect these stock pieces to last. Is it worth the money to replace the clutch after I go through my first spring.

i think it is just the clutch spring itself it aint the clutch that causes it to break the clutch spring is junk but i would replace the clutchbell and spring before even starting it
