Ya go over the car and make sure all the metal to metal screws are lock-tited, and just make sure there is a tiny amount of play. You want just a little so they dont rub, but not too loose. You get better as you do it.

Ya, any screw touching metal use lock-tite. Well thats what i do, i just eyeball it till i ithink its good. But at first i would take a piece of paper and put it between the gears, then push them together (not too hard), and then tighten. That was usually good but it wasnt fool proof. I used that till i learned to eyeball it.

Well i actually dont have a lightning, but i got the truck version. I have a 72 chevy pickup body for it that i still need to paint. But i dont wanna mess it up since i gotta make it 2 tone, to look like my truck. Ya im a big chevy guy, but i do love other old muscle cars. I just went to this guys house today to get my air conditioner fixed and he has a older mustang with a 426 chevy motor in it, runnin 8.6. He put a chevy logo over the ford logo haha. That thing was sweet, even though its a ford.

Personally i love the redcats, ill always own them as long as im into rc's, which will be forever haha. They are cheap and parts are super super cheap. And they are really durable too. Not to mention quick as hell.

i dont think it would work to put a 21 size motor in it. the sh 18 motor form what ive heard is great. also with the 21 you would spend more time fixing than running

Hey All - I could really use some help.  My lightning keeps pulling tot he left when on the throttle....not just light on the throttle....I am heavy on it.  The alignment is great, when i coast, it goes perfectly straight....but gassing, it seems like torque is pulling it to the left.  I talked to the guy at Redcat...as they are 5 mins from where I work, and he said that is because of the car's drive system, and it will do this...and that is why cars like the Traxxas 4tec are belt driven to avoid this problem...is this true....I will take any help, hints, mods, or ideas.

i put the vx.18 in my lightning and dang if it isn't a land rocket. i smoked off the tires in one session. so the .21 would just be stupid in the Lightning if you ask me. go for the vx.18 and get the tuned pipe with the round header (ie, the not stock ones). the car runs alot better with those on it

Hey guys, I just bought a Lightning out of the Buy & Sell here and am starting to wonder where I will be able to drive it. I was thinking the street and parking lots, but then I saw it has 4 mm of ground clearance. Do you guys have to sweep before runs?

I take mine out in the street in front of my house all the time and race cars(the big ones).  You don't need to sweep.  Take her out and have fun.

Gotta be careful though... some of the drivers of those big ones like to try to catch and crush the little car but hey, that's how you turn an RTR into a kit!

I got a Lightning STR out of the B&S here, got the first two tanks of the break in through, and checking everything before the next run I noticed that the mesh was off, barely catching actually. It doesn't look like the engine moved, but it must have. Is there a good way to set the mesh on these? I had a really hard time feeding paper in to it the first time because you can't actually see where they mesh.

Also, total on road newb question: Do you use pins above and below the body to set the height? That is what I did, but I don't know if that is right.

just to update in case anyone else has problems setting the mesh, it is really easy to get to if you remove the top plate.

I got mine from the B&S forum here, unused, but no box. It was missing some of the things that should have come with it, one of those things was body pins, so I had no idea how many it was supposed to come with. I did see a picture where someone had what looked to be like fuel line stretched over the posts, wasn't sure if that is what I should be doing. The pins already seem to be scratching the paint from under the body. Sorry if it was a dumb question.
