I just left it as standard didn't trim anything and used the first hole. I've been amazed at how good it has been running and how long it has lasted.

Personal opinion, they are worth the extra $$.

There is also another clutch from HPI for the RS4 HPI87191. It is about $14 USD. Identical looking clutch, but for some reason not as expensive. I stocked up and got 4.

HI All

Has anyone tried out OS .18 engine on a himoto syclone. I am having a lot of issues with the infinity. I am not too sure if the OS .18 will fit perfect and what abt the 2 speed..will i still be able to have the same clutch bell and flywheel on the new engine.

Sorry if it already been discussed...i am so fedup trying to get this buggy running.

Thank you

I put an OS .18CV-R in my tornado, which is the Redcat Racing equivelent of the Syclone. It fit in there perfect and is a heck of a lot faster than the stock motor.

I have the himoto syclone pro, and have been dying to get rid of the infinity engine, its is impossible to tune due to the absence of a low speed needle.
Anyway the OS CV-RX is the boss of engines for this car, its better than the CV-R because it has a pullstart and also makes more power. More power than you
really need actually so you can run this motor leaner and that's a plus its likely to last longer!!

If you want a replacement clutch for these, you can use the A885 racing clutch from the HPI RS4. The best thing is it fits dtraight on and because ofits design it doesn't need the e clip.

I have one in my buggy and I have put more the 20 tanks throught it. They are a little pricey at $19, but it sure beats replacing the spring all the time with the standard clutch.

Sorry for the late reply but Yeah I am pretty sure it will work in the SV. I believe most of the parts for the Sv and XP are compatible.

I have ? does anyone know of a compatible drive clutch? Since so many people are having problems with them shifting.

Speaking of the HPI 2 speed setup, since I didn't want to lay down the whole 50 bucks for the entire set up, I instead opted to just use the clutch bell since mine conveniently snapped in half last time i used it.

Here are the parts I bought:
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCLR9&P=7]22 Tooth Gear[/link]
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDHM0&P=7]17 Tooth Gear[/link]
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCLR2&P=M]Threaded Clutchbell[/link]

The reasoning behind the gear choices is this: The stock setup for our clutchbells is 16/21. Unfortunately Hpi doesn't make a threaded 16 tooth gear with the same pitch to fit that clutch bell, but they do make a 17. So since i had to go one tooth up with first gear I'd have to do the same with second gear. Otherwise when the car shifted it would shred everything to hell. I'm going to lose a little acceleration because of it but more top end is always fun... wooo

Everything was a direct swap, it all fit perfectly. Even used the same bearings, washers and end screw.
Another plus is that the colored gears look cool
I'm not going to get a chance to run the car tonight but I should be able to sometime this weekend. I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes.
There's also a little picture there of the screened window mod i did.... i thought it looked cool, and i'm sure it's somewhat functional.

so this is a 2-speed?

Yeah it's a 2 speed clutchbell.
It works with the 2 speed transmission that redcat offers.

BigMatt this is what you will need to set your truck up.(For a 2 speed) This first Pic is the clutch bell This is the stock CB. or you can use the set up clutch bell Popper uses. THe second pic is the drive clutch thats what makes the car or truck shift. The 3rd pic is the 2 speed trans unit. The drive clutch comes with it if your purchase the whole unit. Hope this helps. The 2 speed transmission you can pick up from either:

www.topspeedtoys.com or
www.clermontmotorsports.com
Also directly from the redcatracing website.

The hpi clutchbell you can purchase from tower hobbies. If you go back to page 4 of this thread I have those links posted there. You can also find those hpi parts at your local hobby shop.

Hope that helps.

Bigmatt if you go back one page of this thread you will find Poppers post #91 I do believe. This is the clutch bell set up for a 2 speed. If you would scroll up on this page we tell you how much it cost and where you can get it. Look at my post on this page it tells you what you all need for the 2 speed trans , but use the clutch bell popper gives us. ( post 91 on page 4 of this thread)
