Default Volcano STX truck

The truck went thru two tanks during the brake in period. But then whenver I tried starting it after that it would die on me as soon as I would put it on the ground and sometimes it would just go full throttle. Does someone know what the problem is. Im a beginner to this hobby.

sounds like the clutch spring and bad radio system, buy a new spring preferebly not redcat but traxxas #4146x, this is the one i used and has been fine ever since i put it in. If you have the truck less than 30 days and have made sure all the batteries are good then contact redcat an let them know about the radio problem(throttle problem) or buy a new radio, like a futaba set up. I would also say order a couple of extra spur gears if you decide to order the redcat clutch and spring, i would also reccoment to buy your redcat parts from cubbysdad on this forum, his site is clermontmotorsports.com.

no problem dennis, your a good guy and stick to your word, you ship fast, have alot in stock so its not shipped from redcat(super slow), you dont push on anyone, very helpful, and good businessman. i have only and will only order my redcat parts from you. I am sure with the way these strip spur gears and break clutch springs, you'll be in business a long time .

richen the high end 1/2 turn and see what happens. Also check glow plug. put it in the ignitor and see if the coil light up all the way thru.

Hey thanks for the help, you nailed the problem right on the head. But now i broke one of my steering arms. Is there any aluminium ones i can put on or am i stuck buying the plastic ones. Also what would be a good radio to invest in for it.

stick with the plastic a arms, if they break you can replace easily, with the aluminum something else will break down the line and may cost more to fix or take much more time to fix. I would get the futaba magnum sport for it, its like $50 and is much better than the one that comes with it. You could spend more, dont know if you would want too.

Im attempting to inspect the clutch spring. I took the fuel tank out. I took the diff gear out to give me some room. I removed the allen screw from the engine gear. How do I take the engine gear out? Im stuck at this point?

take screw out from end of the bell, then pull the bell off.

sorry you said you took it out, just pull off the bell, it may be a little not easy because the spring may be stuck between the shoes and the bell.

Just make sure you have the mesh set correctly and the engine square with the tranny when you put it back together....otherwise....you buy gears.

I matched the engine before I took it off. It's all together now and there's no binding.

I purchased a redcat Volcano STX and the exact same thing happened. I have gone thru 3 clutches and the same thing happens each time. You run it on 2 tanks of gas and its done. I am trying now to get my money back but am getting no where. I am very disappointed with the product.

bobby, sounds like you're either too rich or too lean on the high speed needle. richen it a quarter turn first...if that doesn't make it better...lean it out about a quarter turn (to where you started), and then another quarter turn.

whichever way helps, keep going that way

I have had my Eldorada for about 2 months and i cant keep it runnin at all. When i did get it runnin i broke a steering knuckle on my 1st tank of gas, i got that replaced and now it won't run for more than 30 sec. to a min. It seems to be flooding out but no matter what i do it will not stay runnin(today it wouldnt even start for the long). I know i am new to the RC world but this is getting stupid. Anyone have any ideas, cause i am all out. thanks for any help in advance.

Make sure you have a good glow plug and try setting the needles back to starting point.

check this thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4207842/tm.htm

about half way down.
