Default Grinding Noise

Hey i was lookin at my car today and noticed that when i pushed it, it made a sort of grinding noise. I think its coming from the diff box. Do i have to take the whole thing apart? Or is there a simple way to make it stop?

Default RE: Grinding Noise

There are 2 diff boxes one in the front and one in the rear, they turn the tires the one in the center right off the engine is the transmission, not really a differential box. Just wanted to clear that up since i think people are reffering to the trans as a differential. If you mean the box in the middle, most likely the spur gear (big plastic one that meshes with the clutch bell on the engine) is starting to bind with the gears in the transmission or the clutch bell.

Both my front and rear diff's are a bit noisy even after being cleaned and packed with HD bearing grease but no damage or wear so I guess its ok...
