Default Ok, I now own a Traxxas Jato... But I need help to start it...

I just got his truck used w/o the hand start unit and the 7.2v charger....I got the 7.2v charger and the start unit at the LHS. I charged all the batteries, including the 7.2v And I can't start the truck, engine turns over, gas is going to the carb, i also checked the glow plug, it's good... maybe is carb adjustment? I even got to idle 30 seconds... But nothing else... What should I try? What is the normal running adjustment for that carb?

Dude I just got a new one yesterday, and man o man is it fast.Is the battery pack fully charged?
Mine wasnt earlier today and it would not start.A friend of mine has the rustler and he has the same problem until he gets a real good charge on the battery pack. What kinda of charger are you using?I use the quick charge for mine.Look up ehroof on here he could help you more then I can.Try turning the high speed valve all the way down, dont force it once it feels like its stopped. Then turn it back out 4 whole turns.Thats the factory setting for the jato.At least thats what my owners manual says.Turn the low speed back out until its flush with the collar.Maybe this will help, maybe not.I just dont know.Ive only had mine for a day. These jato's are awesome,I wont buy anything else but them from now on.Hope you get it running....

Hey I have a question about those Jatos. I understand they're rear wheel drive, does that make it that much harder to control? I know that when I only have rwd on my buggy the thing just wants to do donuts if I give it too much gas.

I have no problems with control on mine.I didnt like rear wheel drive, but was like what the hay give it a try.
I wont go back to anything else.If you do some adjusting on the slipper clutch that helps with
the donuts. At least for me it did.I can get wheelies on demand now, thanks ehroof for the help with that.On pavement you want the slipper clutch tighter. On the grass you want it looser. At least once again thats what works for me....
Hearring second gear kick in,is like music to the ears....

Um I just posted this picture in another thread for a tornado XP but i'm assuming most of the settings on r/c carbs are pretty universal.

I just turned the neddle adj 4 turns out from closed... I thing I had the setting messed up when trying too much to start when I didn't have gas going to the carbs the first time... I'll lean it out a little later but is kicking ass as it is...

What is that extension on the exhaust? Is that for more power?

20% but occasionaly 30%, i am affraid to run 30% all the time, the extension it to keep the oil off the car, it shoots it out a little more than the pipe does. have it on most of my cars.

Oh ok, makes sense... I'll take mine tomorrow to a construction zone so the truck can take some air... I got the suspension adjustment on high, I'll tell how it goes tomorrow... I used the stock tires down the street today... this thing flyes low... Tomorrow of road tires, constuction zone hehe... I think I need to get oil for this air filter right?

yes, clean the filter with soapy water, dry it and oil it a little. One thing, i would buy an extra rear shock tower or two, only weak point to the truck, actually not a weak point, cant say that when you get 10'-15' of air, and you will, once you see how this takes a jump you go a little more each time until you hit the big ones, it only breaks when you hit with the rear tires first and hard.

I'm glad I could help. Now would you call my wife and tell her im good for something, lol.
I had my leaned out too far,so I did the 4 turns from bottom up.That fixed the problem.
Then I leaned it out just a tad.

Now if only the rains will hold up for saturday I have someone to race.
The guy I was telling you about with the rustler. He always kicks my butt
when I race him with my nitro sport. He doesent beat me to bad,but he wins.
Now I have the enforcer for his butt,lol.....

I took this thing out to the construction site today... WOW, this truck is what nitro truck is all about, takes obstacles like a champ, it flipped over many times because I'm not used to the truck/gravity/flying abilities... Got some good landings too...Makes dougnuts like crazy on loose surfaces but that's easy to control on the gas, I had no problems at all except that one of the rear tires flew out of the rim at about 50mp/h I stopped the truck and went after the spinnig tire (after market off road tire). I put the tire back in, works fine except that leaks air when you press it... I'll just put some silicone around the tire/rim to seal it I guess...

its supposed to let the air in and out, you do have to use ca/super glue to put the tires on the rim but dont close up the air hole on the rim it needs it, All Rc cars have them on the rim, sometimes there not big enough, Its a great jumping truck though!!!!!!!!!!!!
